Unable to download youtube videos
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 2, 2013
recently I've had trouble downloading youtube videos. I use keepvid and there never used to be a problem. Now there's a popup that I've never seen before with a directory. I do not understand what this is and it's never been something I've had to do. see picture / attachment. Please someone help me revert this back to how it is supposed to be. I've tried other browsers and I still get this strange pop up that says "enter path or folder name" with complicated options.

Having trouble installing a evga 8400 gs pci
location: linux.com - date: March 9, 2010
I'm installing this in a Dell Precision 690
The OS is Ubunutu 9.10 (all updates applied).
I've loaded the latest stable nvidia drivers (190.53) and it won't see it.
I looked at what the linux system thinks is in the slot and I get the following from lspci:
0c:02.0 PCI bridge: PLX Technology, Inc. PEX8112 x1 Lane PCI Express-to-PCI Bridge (rev aa)
I know this is the correct entry as in another machine I have a 6200 pci and it shows up at the same pci bus address (0c:02.0) and it works just fine.
So, I've got working drivers, but it recognizes the card as a PCI-E interface instead of something like:
0c:02.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)
Please, can you point me in the correct direction?
I've checked dmesg for errors, but none found
virtual computer for every monitor
location: linux.com - date: June 17, 2009
alright i was wondering where i could find out how to use one single computer with x number of monitors to have it's own virtual computer for each monitor without the virtual computers messing with each other.
i remember reading about this somewhere and just recently remembered it when my job started taking suggestions for saving time and money.
any info can help or even just a point in the right direction, and yes before you send me a link i have googled it.
rsync in the background
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 27, 2007
I am considering using rsync in the background to mirror a RAM disk to hard drive but I know nothing about backgrounding of tasks (which should be done by script at boot time).
The idea is to run a cron job (or similar) every 15 seconds or so.
Can someone make suggestions about info or howto?
Thank you for your help.
Debian Lenny and support for WD 4K sector hard drives
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 15, 2010
Hi, as you are probably aware that WD released new drives ranging from 1TB to 2TB with native support for 4K sector size.
And as most of stuff written online is regarding Windows and their support for 4K, my question is has anyone already started to use it under linux?
I'm thinking about getting one of these drives:
I'm using Debian Lenny so my questions are:
is fdisk automatically recognizes that that drive is 4K drive, or it totally ignores it and partition is as 512byte one?
In windows if no 4K support is available it would emulate it and performance would be downgraded.
Do I need to enable any specific components in kernel so 4K drive is supported?
I wanted to make sure there would be no data loss if I select 4K partition type.
