I'm dual booting windows xp and ubuntu 7.10.I created a folder /usr/share/fonts/type1/myfonts on my linux side.I copied and pasted all fonts from my windows font directory into this folder.i want to make my fonts in linux look as clear and readable as windows. So i want everything run the same fonts as windows.i read some where that internet explorer uses Times new Roman fonts.Does anyone know the size explorer uses. Also do they use the standard Times new roman or the bold one.Now will my system look to this folder for my fonts. My resolution I run at 1024 x 768.My monitor is a dell E773C.Is 1024 x 768 the highest I can go with this monitor. Also can I up the resolution and make the fonts say a 800 x 600 size.Hope you understand my questions.

After a few days of looking at all the Linux Os available I began to get very confused decided to just go with the wubi installer and dual boot my computer. Until I get the hang of linux and I am able to get rid of windows totally. So Wubi loaded UBUNTU 11.0 on a seperate hard drive. My computer is a old dell pentium 3 with 384mb ram 2 20gig hdd and a external 120gig. A BFG nvidia geforce 6 series with 256 video memory. No dvd burner but a cd burner. So when I boot ubuntu it goes so slow that I can feel my hair getting gray waiting for it to load. I am wondering if there is a setting I can change or something I can do to make it at least as fast as my windows xp which I have learned to accept, but any slower than that and we have a problem you know. So did i give my computer more than it could chew? If so what should i put in it for a operating system? If not how do I tweek it to run alot faster. It is really slow but it works. i would be grateful of any help you might give. thanks

Logining into wwwdata

THIS IS POTENTIALLY INSECURE
SHOULD NOT BE DONE IN MOST CIRCUMSTANCES
In this how-to I will provide a one-time version and a shorter over time version. For the latter one, I assume you know how to use chmod.
# su -s /bin/bash www-data
Congrats, you're now logged in as www-data!
Create 2 files & make them executable:
Contents of /usr/sbin/to-www:
su -s /bin/bash www-data
Contents of /usr/bin/auto-www:
su -s '/usr/sbin/to-www'
To log in as www-data from a regular user, just run 'auto-www' and input the root password. For a sudoer, you can run 'sudo to-www' or 'auto-www'
But why would you want that?
For me it was the fact that I host multiple sites and they are managed by the perspective people and some scripts refuse to work with ownership of user:www-data * cough cough drupal cough cough * thus not allowing one user per site. However I did not wan
[SOLVED] bash script runs perfectly when started manually but not when started by CRON

First post here - but long time reader.
I have a small bash problem, which seems to be something I have done wrong in the scripts - but I can't identify the problem.
I am using Raspbian on my Raspberry Pi, and I wish to create a mirror of two harddrives using the RSYNC function via a cron job. And so far it has been working, but after I made some amendments to the bash, it will no longer run correctly as a cron job.
The cron job looks like this:

I know in shell one can do:
How about in R? Is there some syntax where I could combine two commands onto one line?
