Ubuntu LTS 12.04 64bit or 32bit?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 28, 2012
Why is recommended to install the 32bit version?
And why is the Ubuntu LTS 12.04-CD available in 32bit only?
I'd rather install by a CD, but my PC is 64bit. -
What is better for me -
to download the 64bit version on an external harddisc or to install by the 32bit-CD?

Help Installing Matlab from local folders?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 6, 2013
I have been having difficulties installing MATLAB 64 bit on my ubuntu desktop machine. I downloaded the necessary files from school (as my internet connection at home is very terrible).
I put the 2013a folder onto the desktop and I extracted the matlab installer zip within that folder.
I go into the terminal and execute sudo ./install and it starts going through the installation process. However, if I choose to install with the ineternet connection- it doesn't see the necessary files already downloaded in the archives folder- so it starts to download again. If I sit through it- with my internet connection at home- this would take 12+ hrs.
If I choose to go through the installation without ineternet connection- I get past the activation stage- but then I get this "There are no products available to install from this location. You may need to download the appropriate products from our web-site (www.mathworks.com)"

[SOLVED] Kernel3.11rc7 kms init causes system hang during boot with cape verde gpu. Only me?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 28, 2013
Kernel-3.11-rc7 with kernel mode setting (kms) on my radeon hd 7750 causes system hang, during boot when kms initializes.
Disabled kms (nomodeset) and system boots fine. Got warning about UMS not available so I re-built kernel with UMS but that changed nothing (regarding system hang with kms).
Is it just me?
Gamecast in ESPN MLB Scoreboard doesn not work.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 10, 2012
I am using Ubuntu 12.04, and when trying to use the 'Gamecast' application on the web page ESPN MLB Scoreboard (in FireFox 15.0.1) is does not work.
The application starts OK, but does not update at all. It is intended to update each pitch in the live game.
Is this a problem that occurs only to me, or is it an application that can't run under Ubuntu 12.04?

How to make money out of free software and games ?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 28, 2007
I know several ways of making money of free software but they doesn't apply to many other programs.
RedHatd and other Linux distro's make money by tech support which is reasonable.
If you make programs you can charge for commercial use live VMware or Xen.
But what about games ?
In Second life you can buy game money from real money, but if it was covered by the GPLv3 (not 2) it would be harder to "call if free software" as if you would change part of the code it must work on the server thus making cheating very much possible.
But what about stand alone games (not mmorpg) ? how can you make money from them ? under GPLv3 ?
