[SOLVED] Grub Error with Mint Debian over Ubuntu 12.04 with Win7 Dual Boot Grub Error
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 28, 2013
There has been alot of speculation over the spyware included with Ubuntu which makes me uncomfortable to use it anymore.
I currently have a system with Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04
I have decided to install Linux Mint Debian Mate 32bit over the Ubuntu installation.
The process i assumed would be to install over Ubuntu and write a new Grub loader but unfortunately that has not seemed to work. If i re install Ubuntu the Grub is back with my Win7 installation aswell but when installing Mint i get a "Grub not Found" error.
Additionally while installing Mint they ask me to install the Bootloader which i have tried on
The partition layout is as follows:
sda1 = Win7 system partition
sda2 = Win7
sda3 = Ubuntu ( Which i am trying to overwrite with Linux)
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated,
If there is anything that i have missed or not explained please don't hesitate to let me know.

p11kit error Workaround WINE in AMD64 Ubuntu 12.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 24, 2012
If you get the following error on 12.04 when running WINE:
p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Install the gnome-keyring and p11-kit
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-keyring p11-kit
Open up nautilus as root
$ gksu nautilus
Navigate to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ and create a directory called pkcs11
Then, go to /usr/lib32/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so (while still in root nautilus) and make that *.so file executable (right-click -> properties).
Close root nautilus.
Issue the following command (in a terminal) to establish a symlink.
sudo ln -s /usr/lib32/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so

GRUB error: unknown filesystem, grub rescue

Hi, I have dual boot with Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7. Today, after using Partition Wizard on Windows to resize its partition, I got the following message when reboot:
grub problem/fd0 read error
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 13, 2012
I recently installed the newest version of ubunut server a week ago. New to ubuntu and linux the server. Wanted to start learning it. Anyhow, when i rebooted my system periodically while playing around with it I started getting a fd0 read error. Per instructions online I did this:
Wasn't sure what it would actually do. No i realize it causes the system to boot into grub. Well I have no idea what to do to get my system back. I'm looked through help, online, whatever. I'm totally flustered now. I just want my system to boot back into my ubuntu server OS. I never want to see grub again and I want to get rid of the fd0 read error. Can someone please help me!!
when i do a 'ls' i get:
ubuntu-server-swap_1 ubuntu-server-root hdo hdo,msdos5 hdo,msdos1 fdo
ubuntu-server-root is the one that I shoudl be trying to get. ubuntu-server is what i named it when i did the install of the OS.
tftpdhpa on Ubuntu 6.10 Error code 1: File not found
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 22, 2007
I use a Linux machine to store Cisco IOS images and configurations. The TFTP service was recently migrated to this box as the old one (which was running Ubuntu 6.06) died.
I can get files OK but for some reason I can't put any files using TFTP. I have tried from LAN PCs as well as localhost.
Service is running:
jim@lx-p4:~$ netstat -ul | grep tftp
udp 0 0 *:tftp *:*
jim@lx-p4:~$ ps aux | grep tftp
root 22553 0.0 0.0 2100 308 ? Ss 19:08 0:00 /usr/sbin/in.tftpd -l -s /tftpboot
Here are the configuation files:
jim@lx-p4:~$ cat /etc/default/tftpd-hpa
#Defaults for tftpd-hpa
OPTIONS="-l -s /tftpboot"
jim@lx-p4:~$ cat /etc/xinetd.d/tftp
