How do I paste a screen shot into a message in this forum? Also, if I don't want the whole screen shot, but just want part of it, what is the best editing tool to use? I am running 12.04.
SSH keys suddenly not working
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 29, 2008
I have a number of remote machines I connect to, and I set up my rsa keys so I don't have to type my password every time. There's one remote machine worked for months, and now, does not (prompts me for password). I've checked permissions on the ~/.ssh directory, and everything looks fine. I've double-checked ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, and it looks fine. Config file, as well, should be okay. Yet, here I am.
I ssh in with verbose output, but it's not much of a help. Just shows me "trying private key, offering public key, [fail], trying dsa key, etc.".
Any idea? In my experience, it's almost always permissions, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The other thing is the IP address not changing (didn't) or the target machine not detecting it properly. I've put my key in authorized_keys in 3 places, once by raw IP, another by hostname (as shown in /etc/hosts) and a third for safe measure as what the machine thinks is the hostname (what is shown when I run 'who').

glibc/libc6 Version q's
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 3, 2008
I am trying to get set up to cross compile for different arch's (trying to get set up to work on jlime - wwww.jlime.com).
I have managed to install an older version of gcc via apt-get and change the symlink for gcc to point to this older version which works well.
Is there a way I can do something similar for libc6?
i.e. install an older version via apt-get and then change a symlink somewhere so that it is the version used?
Are there any ramifications for day to day use? i realise when i compile/build things it will matter - but what about just using the system normally?
[SOLVED] New Laptop Advice (UK Based)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 10, 2012
I'm after a new Laptop since my 18 month old Dell Inspiron just over heats all the time. It's continually been back to Dell who keep saying there's nothing wrong with it, but I can't use it as it keeps shutting itself down.
So, I would like a new laptop, but I don't really know what to look out for. I obviously want to avoid Dell, want good bang for my buck, I'd like it to be Linux compatible out of the box. I use it at home, University and work. I don't use Windows so don't need a key to use it. As I carry it everywhere, I'd like it to be as small as possible, but my netbook is unusable on some websites as the screen is too small.
Thanks for any recommendations and advice

I am a new linux user and a new user of this forum.
Previously i used windows 7 and my system was hacked.Someone managed my hard disk partition using HFS filesystem so that that part contains NT srever and the rest part was accessible for me and my OS installation using internal ports and sockets. It used to collect information that i used, offline cookies and everything and email all those when i am online.
I installed ubuntu but i did not get back my 500GB disk space.
It is still 465 GB.
I am expecting that the server system still running.
There is a message when i log in.
"your network has a .local domain which is not recommended and compitable with AVAHI network discovery tool and is disabled.
I run the dmesg command and copy paste the output in a document file to attach with this post.
But i can not attach the file.
It shows no files attached when i click upload from the attached option.

No titlebar hostname set with ssh connection
- date: January 6, 2014
I have a handful of debian servers at my house, all of them setup and configured fairly closely to each other. I also have a debian laptop that I use to SSH into the computers from campus.
With the Terminator shell, I can ssh into all of the computers, with one computer per tab. Most of the time, when I make an ssh connection, Terminator will set the tab title from "[email protected]
" to "[email protected]
". But for one computer the change doesn't happen.
I've reviewed /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname to make sure that the computer follows the same plan as the others, and it does. What might cause terminator to skip setting the title for only one connection?
