[Fedora 16] Asus N55SF Graphics
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 4, 2011
Good Afternoon guys, i have a Asus N55SF-S1084V and I'm running Fedora 16. I'm having a problem because my monitor supports resolutions up to 1920x1080. But since Fedora shows my monitor as "Unknown", it only shows three "crappy" resolutions (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024). I've heard about using xrandr but i'm not too familiar with it. Can anyone help me?
If additional information is required, i'll be glad to provide it.
And BTW, GNOME Shell does not work, it always start in fallback mode. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Quadboot Ubuntu / Kubuntu 11.10, PCLinuxOS 2011 and Fedora 16... GRUB2 Help

Ello.. I'm making a quad boot system with 6 partitions (1 is swap, 4 is main os'es and 5th is a testing part for the trying of other os).
I knew something like this would happen because since PCLOS uses GRUB Legacy it'd cause some commotion, but how do I get it to boot in this condition?
Some things that may be to your interest:

[SOLVED] Fedora 16 Virtual Box Additions Screen resolution (new issue).
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 13, 2012
Hello, I'm having an issue with my Fedora 16 VM. I am currently preparing for my Linux + certification and am running a couple different Fedora VMs.
On my laptop, I am running Fedora 13 in Virtual Box. Once I initially installed it and installed guest additions, I had to us this solution to obtain my proper screen resolution.
Later on, at home, I went to install Fedora 16 (newest version) on my gaming desktop at home. Again, after installing the guest additions, I edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to include my needed resolution (1600x900).
Once I change the configuration file and reboot, after fedora loads the kernel, before loading the GUI, I get several lines of error code (referencing Guest Additions) and the system halts and doesn't boot. I have tried several times and continue to get the same issue.
So the solution works in Fedora 13, but I can not get it to work in 16. Does anybody have any suggestions? Had this problem? I will post a screen shot in a moment.
Fedora 16/17 and Synaptic Package Manager
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 15, 2012
Does anybody know if its possible to get the Synaptic package manager working in Fedora 16 or 17? It worked just fine up to (and including) Fedora 15.
I know it was designed for Apt, but I never had a single problem with it in Fedora. I've tried all the other package managers, and I do miss Synaptic - to my eyes, it was just the one that did what I needed to do with the fewest mouse clicks, the best laid-out GUI, and the minimum of fuss. Purely personal preference, thats all.

cannot ssh or ping to wireless IP using Fedora 16
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 17, 2012
I am trying to ssh from my Fedora 16 machine (KDE) to a computer (ubuntu) using a wireless IP address. Other computers are able to connect to the wireless machine, but it seems that the Fedora 16 is unable to connect to any wireless IP. I have both ssh-client and ssh-server installed.
BTW, ping also does not work from Fedora to wireless, but viceversa does work, both by ping and by ssh
Any idea why Fedora does not allow this?

I have just started trying to tweek it, and only used it for netbank and email so far.
I wanted to install compiz and other software. I found out that it needed to finish a task and tried SU to finish it, but no luck.
