3g to PS3?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 1, 2011
I have Ubuntu 04.11 or something like that in my Asus Eee-7000 laptop, an original 60gb Fat PS3 and 3g usb-device. Since wireless networks cost 3 legs and I only have two I was wondering if you guys/girls could help me figure out how to connect my PS3 to the 3g network. I have the cable required to connect my laptop to the PS3 but it would be great to get all sorts of noob proof 'How To' on how to do this. I have googled and googled and haven't found a good 'How To' to guide me through this.
I know there are at least two ways to do this;
1. Connect directly using crossover cable
2. Create a router within the laptop to connect the PS3 wirelessly.
Please correct me if I'm wrong and have a good day
I am btw not a 100% sure this thread is in the right place so please forgive me, This forum is much different then those I have frequented.
ps3 controller in Ubuntu ON COMPUTER?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 10, 2007
Having got my ps3 (finally!) last week. Of course I will put a linux distro, probably Edgy, onto it. The walkthroughs are all there on psubuntu.com. But there's something else I'm trying to do: make the controller work on my computer, in Ubuntu.
I have Dapper and could never get my gameport controllers (a gravis gamepad pro and a Sidewinder) to work as anything other than a 2-axis, 4-button joystick. Which REALLY sucks for games like bzflag and America's Army. So now I've got this usb six-axis controller, which should work much better than a gameport controller. Dapper even recognizes it and lists it in the Gnome Device Manager. But it doesn't even begin to function, and jscal produces only errors.
Apparently the controller does work under linux installed on the ps3 itself, if I understand what I've read on psubuntu.com correctly. But not on my computer. I figured, there must be a module for it, similar to the xpad module, but much searching has found me nothing.

PS3 / Xbox 360 presets for Handbrake 0.94
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 9, 2009
Handbrake 0.94 no longer has presets for PS3 and Xbox 360. The devs don't use the devices so they wont create profiles for them.
I have copied the presets from 0.93 and have attached them to this post. I can confirm the PS3 one works, but not the xbox 360 (becuase I don't have one).
To get them running in Handbrake 0.94, simply save the attachment(s).
Rename them from:
PS3.txt to PS3.plist
Xbox 360.txt to Xbox 360.plist
Open Handbrake, go to bottom left corner, click on 'Options'
then 'Import' and choose PS3.plist or Xbox360.plist.
it should appear in grey in your preset menu, to make it the default setting, click on it, go to 'Options' then click on 'Make Default'
And your done
I can confirm the PS3 one works, if someone could try the Xbox 360 one and leave feedback that'd be great.
Any LQ Members Own a PS3?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 30, 2009
Since the PS3 can run Linux and is a very nice media server / Blueray player, I was wondering if any members here have a PS3 or plan to in the future. I know it's a bit much at $299 but IMO it's well worth it! Especially the holiday bundle available now...
