Hey guys,
I have been searching and searching and searching and haven't been successful in finding the solution to this problem of trying to get ipmitool to work which is dependent on /dev/ipmi0 to exist which it doesn't unfortunately. Here's some information that I think would be helpful:
# service ipmi status
ipmi_msghandler module loaded.
ipmi_si module loaded.
ipmi_devintf module loaded.
/dev/ipmi0 does not exist.
# ./srvadmin-services.sh status

Debian 5.0.4 DVD (AMD64) does not recognize Toshiba L500DST2532 DVD Drive
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 4, 2010
Hello,
I am new to Linux. I am trying to install the subject Debian on the subject Toshiba. Both recent purchases. Debian boots on the DVD but during the install routine it says that it can not find/recognize my CD-DRIVE. I have tried every install option and rebooted several times without success. The bios were changed to boot from the DVD.
I have accessed the Help on the Debian DVD #1 disk and reviewed the relevant sections but I can not determine what to do next?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

menu.lst does not exist.

Right, I would love to change the boot order on my laptop. Mainly because it is shared, and I am the only one who uses Ubuntu (version 9.10)... So everyone keeps moaning for me to change it!
Following all the sound advice from this forum it looks easy... Except /boot/grub/menu.lst does not exist! Huh?
If anyone can tell me why this is happening, that would be great!

Hi,
I created a custom image (based on Squeeze) with live helper to deploy a preconfigured system on other machines. Most stuff seems to be working just fine, but I can't get the network interfaces up.
I get the following errors:

Happy I was, using my dual-boot FC3/WIndows laptop, when one dark and cloudy day GrUB decides that it hates me.
I hadn't altered grub.conf, hadn't touched device.map, hadn't really messed with anything. All of a sudden though, GrUB decided that it was just going to hang after the BIOS finished loading and print the word GRUB on the screen. That's it., 'GRUB' and a blinking cursur. I don't even get to the menu.
With a sigh, I went over to my neighbors house and downloaded Knoppix. Booted onto the live CD, chrooted, and examined my grub config. As I thought, everything was as I had left it. Here are the contents of grub.conf and device.map:

GRUB Error 21: Selected Disk Does Not Exist...
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 6, 2009
Hi, Everyone...
I have received excellent help from Tommcd on an attempt to migrate Ubuntu, existing by itself on an IDE disk,to a multiboot arrangement on a new SATA disk. That process can be viewed here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...66#post6635866
I realize that this post constitutes a cross-post in part, but the current error results from attempting to reinstall GRUB, what I thought would be the simplest step.
After reinstalling GRUB (I used the "sudo grub; find /boot/grub/stage1; root (hd0,5); setup (hd0)" routine) I rebooted after the process appeared to proceed w/o error.
Upon finding the GRUB boot list I selected 8.04 Ubuntu and was greeted by the intractable (for me) "error 21: selected disk does not exist".
I found on other forum replies that a problem seems to exist when migrating to SATA disks, or something. Anyway, I then tried installing 8.10 from the Live CD and nearly made perilous changes to the size of my main Windows pa

I have a centos 6.2 server. I have put the mail.jar into /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_03/jre/lib/ext folder. Then when I compile my java it gives me this error. The funny part I have done this last month on another server also with centos 6.2 and same java version all works fine. What could be missing here?

Hello everyone,
I am in the process of moving one of my websites from Centos OS to Ubuntu 12.04. I haven't had any issues with Wordpress or vBulletin, but my custom built website is giving me very strange database query errors:

Funny thing is, it works perfectly OK on Centos but not on Ubuntu. I have spent a bit of time on Google try
