Making a Slax Flash OS
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 14, 2009
Im trying to make a Slax Flash OS on my flash drive. On the slax homepage, Slax.org, it says, that im going to extract my version to the usb key, so i did that. But then it wants me to run the file bootinst.sh in the newly created folder boot.
So i wrote
in the console, but it only said:
Can't find device to install to.
Make sure you run this script from a mounted device.
Then tried to change the permissions of the file to a runable file, but when i check the box it just unchecks again.
Anyone who knows how to make this work?
Cannot sustain downloads of slax or fermi linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 2, 2009
I have been having trouble completing downloads of SLAX Live CD, and Fermi linux on multiple different boxes running Windows XP for several days. it is at work, we are a service provider so the network on our end couldn't be the problem (we have 80mbps download in here).
they get to like 80% coming down slower than 200kbps and then the window just disappears.
To clarify, i have been able to download knoppix on this machine,, the whole 700mb, and ubuntu and other distros but i am not able to pulldown fedora, fermilinux, or slax, and have not been for days.
[SOLVED] Salix or Slax
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 1, 2011
ok basically im after slackware. but unfortantly the main dvd for slackware itself is 4GB in size. which is abit much for me due to a bandwith limit each month :P
its not that i dont have enough bandwith. its that ive used half already haha
So basically im after slackware. but i cant download the entire dvd
So i was wondering if salix. or slax would be a good way to install slackware with a minimal install or something like that
SLAX Live CD Installation

If this has already been answered, I apologize.
Okay I downloaded SLAX ISO file. And basically...now what?
I am curious about linux, and If these Live CDs are easy enough, I will have my little brother use Linux permanatley. (he finds Windows difficult)
A detailed guide on setup would be very appreciated.
Am I right to say that SLAX helps to detect bad memory?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 16, 2006
I used to have a desktop which gives weird init and kernel panics upon bootups.
I quickly download and run SLAX on that system; SLAX won't even load on that system due to kernel panics.
I swopped the RAMS and everything worked fine. I've sent the ram for RMA and the verdict that it's faulty.
So I was thinking: SLAX helps to detect bad rams since it runs off the memory.
Am i right? Or was it just plain bad luck that SLAX dont run properly in the first place.

Remove Slax modules?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 8, 2009
How do I remove Slax Modules besides via the Module Manager?
I want to remove Kopete since I've already found Pidgin 2.5.2 that works well with Slax
btw, does anyone know where I can find the Dust theme which comes in Ubuntu, but for Slax that is?
Anything similar/close to the theme would be fine as well.

Slax, Backtrack, and OphCrack
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 30, 2009
Not sure if this is in the right forum, but please help/move. I have a 4GB USB drive, and I want to know how to install BackTrack 3, Slax, and Ophcrack (not the module - bootable iso is what i want) on it all at the same time. So is there an easy to use Boot Manager (with image if possible) out there that I can put on the USB so when i boot from the USB, i can choose one of the OS's to load? Also, please do not include any burning of CD's/DVD's as I do not have a burner. Freeware too please. Thanks.
NOTE: I tried GRUB but i could not figure out how to boot multiple OS on excpet when I paritioned it but with partiions, I had to force install the boot record thing and when booting from the usb caused errors.
