HOWTO: Google Earth on Linux (Ubuntu) PC with GPS from Android smartphone/tablet
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 15, 2013
In this tutorial, I will introduce to you how to use Google Earth on Linux (Ubuntu) PC with position/tracking feature by making use of the built-in GPS receiver from your Android smartphone/tablet.
There are many reasons to use it this way. First, why do you have to buy an expensive external GPS receiver when your Android device has already one? Secondly, there is no Google Earth Pro for Linux, Google Earth Free Edition lacks GPS feature, you can't use your GPS device natively within Google Earth for Linux, so you waste money Finally, your Android screen is too small and/or Google Earth doesn't support your Android device.
Step 1: Install Google Earth for Linux (Ubuntu)
Google Earth for Linux installation is not so smooth as Google Earth for Windows or Mac, Google's support is quite bad for this problem. However, you will easily find instruction for this task somewhere on the Internet.
Step 2: Install a GPS sharing application on your Androi

android root exploits?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 20, 2010
I know one has been developed by zinx, but it was patched last year. I was wondering if there were any more current exploits that could be ported to android?
A lot of the newer android phones have difficulties obtaining root access (like my motorola backflip). I have been looking for exploits myself, but i am a noob so i feel like i am wasting time. If anyone here has any ideas they want to test out i don't mind, and suggestions are appreciated.
I will try anything besides take the phone apart since that would obviously void my warranty. other than that any software caused bricks are easily warranty-able.

Does anyone know how to encode h264 videos for android tablets.

When I encode a video to h264, it plays fine on my computer. But, when I transfer it to the player, I get an encoder unknown error.

Using Mint Rebecca kde and the installed player Amarok on a Samsung laptop.
Havent tried as yet but is it possible with this player or do i need something else.
When I use plug phone into my desktop (windoze) it gives me a warning that
"these may be unplayable do i want to proceed" tick yes or no.
As yet I have had no problem using the yes option, but I have found if I transfer wirelessly the phone will not pick the files up.
Any advice anyone ?

Unable to install Android NDK Application on Android x86 Tablet
location: linuxexchange.com - date: June 21, 2011
I am having a ViewSonic Tablet Intel Atom processor running with Android OS. I have created a helloWorld App using Android SDk, I am able to run on my tablet but when I tried my actual app with have JNI interface too, the application installation failed with an error message "Application not Installed".
Can some one guide me how I can install (or compile) my application (including JNI layer) so that It can run on my Android Tablet.
Do I need to compile my JNI libs using android-x86 NDK or normal NDK is fine?
