Banshee IPod Issues
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 6, 2013
I had Banshee running on a older Fedora computer. When I upgraded systems about 4 or 5 moths ago, I just tar'ed my home directory and untar'ed it on my new system which is Linux Mint 14.
I tried adding some music files to my ipod. Adding it on the computer worked fine, but when I went to sync my ipod I got a fatal error. I am including the error below. If nothing else, is it possible to tell Banshee to delete the music files on my ipod and reload them?
Thanks in advance, DMChess.

Jaunty 64 / Banshee / iPod classic 6G : podcasts and album art, minor issues
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 5, 2009
As stated I'm running the following:
Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit
iPod Classic 120GB 6th gen.
I like the look of Banshee and I've almost got it all working as I'd like. I currently use Vista on my dual boot to manage my music collection with iTunes but I'm so close of going 100% MS free if I can just fix these two minor niggles with Banshee:
- Podcasts. When I subscribe to a Podcast in Banshee it downloads ok and shows under 'Podcasts'. In the track properties in Banshee the genre is also 'Podcast'. But when transferred to the iPod the podcasts section is empty and the podcast is under music with 'BBC Radio 4' as the artist.
- Album art. Banshee seems to find the album art beautifully but when transferred to the iPod, in the small list view it is skewed/blurred diagonally. It looks fine in the 'Now Playing' and 'Cover flow'.
I know these are only minor issues but I do want to have everything working as it should. I have tried Amarok 2 and it's a disaster!

Need help using ipod 5G with banshee on Ubuntu 6.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 14, 2007
This is my 1st post. I just got an ipod and I was wondering how to use it with linux. I tried gtkpod, and that would not work for me (it would not upload songs correctly). After that I looked at banshee, I almost got my ipod to work with that. The 2 problems I had were, m4a (or aac) files would not work with banshee. The 2nd is, manually updating songs to my ipod would not work. Anybody have ideas?

No music in 4th generation iPod touch after sync with Banshee.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 18, 2011
Hello everyone, after multiple failed attempts at trying to install Slackware, I just decided to stick with Linux Mint until I get an ethernet connection so I can install Arch Linux.
Anyway, I found my 4th generation iPod touch, and since I added like 100 songs to my music library, I decided I should update my iPod's music library as well.
However, after about two hours worth of sync time and the music was supposedly written to the device according to Banshee, I checked my Music app on my iPod to see if the new songs I added were in there. Nothing was there, but the album artwork got mixed up.
I just thought it was the firmware as I was on 4.3.3 and Ubuntu's documentation said that I might incur errors if I update to anything after iOS 4.2.X. I downgraded to 4.2.1, using my older sister's MacBook Pro, and tried using Rhythmbox this time. According to Rhythmbox, it said my iPod needs to be initialized before I can use it.
I skipped over it, tried syncing once again, and the same t
Issues with 10.04 Ipod classic and Rhythmbox
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 2, 2011
First of all, I was able mount and connect my ipod classic black 80gb to my computer (Dell Inspiron e1505) and open with rhythmbox once with Lucid Lynx 10.04.
Then suddenly it wouldn't work.
I've been sitting here for the last two hours trying to research and I'm getting pretty frustrated. Here's what's happened now:
My ipod simply won't mount. It won't show up on the desktop nor in Rhythmbox.
While researching I made some changes:
I followed these instructions:
to see if I could get it working in banshee. When I did this it would show up in banshee but just as read only.
Then I went to synaptic and removed the libgpod-common.
Upon doing that and then restarting my computer and opening rhythmbox then connecting my ipod, rhythmbox would close just as my ipod would mount.
So now I have no idea what's going on, what to do, and am getting really frustrated. Any help would be excellent.

location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 1, 2012
Hello, I have just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and all of the programs that i wanted, but when i connected my iPod touch 4g to the computer I couldn't sync anything to it. At first I thought everything was ok because i could see and listen to the music on my iPod with Banshee, but when I tried to add a song Banshee told me that it was in the iPod but when i went to listen to the song on the iPod it wasn't there. What should i do?
Kubuntu 14.04 ipod touch 5th gen not seen in Banshee, Amarok or Rhythmbox
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 6, 2014
I have a quite new install of Kubuntu 14.04 and an ipod touch 5th gen. I have updated the IOS on the ipod to IOS 7.
When I connect the ipod I get a prompt to open it to view the pictures or files. It does not show up in any music application.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? I was under the impression it was supported "out of the box" in 14.04 which is why I updated the ipod to IOS7.
I haven't installed anything ipod related so I have a nice clean system. What makes it worse is it's my wifes laptop/ipod and I assured her it would work.
She's happy Netflix is working. Now I just need the ipod syncing to get me some browny points and hopefully an appreciative wife
