location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 14, 2009
I connect my iPod Touch (2nd generation) to my computer, and it shows up on the Desktop, but it will not show up in Banshee. What is the problem here?
Banshee does not see CD's
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 2, 2010
I just did a fresh install of 10.10, After that, I installed Banshee. I insert a CD in my drive, and it does not appear for ripping in Banshee.
What I know:
The CD appears on the Gnome desktopThe CD appears in Rhythmbox In the Banshee "extensions" section, "Audio CD Support" is checked. When I try to "Open Location" in Banshee with the CD, I get the message: "DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name :1.263 was not provided by any .service files" That seems not normal.Banshee worked as expected with 10.04I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Banshee with no effect.
What;s the deal here? How can I fix it?
Banshee 2.0 autostarts when plugging in a device!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 12, 2011
Have tried to find an answer over at over LoCo (Sweden) with no result...
Does anyone know how to stop Banshee from autostarts when I plug in a USB-drive, my iPhone or what-so-ever! Banshee even autostarts when I'm doing a "Connect to server" O_o
Have even googled for it, with no result and it's bugging me off real hard that Banshee autostarts!
Edit: If I remove Banshee, and still plugs a device in it now autostarts in qmmp! :S

Music doesn't appear in music folder after using Banshee
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 20, 2011
Thanks to all of you, I am am at last learning, having persevered for a while with Lubuntu, instead of constantly changing distros.
Anyway, my problem is strange. When I copy a cd in Banshee, it sometimes doesn't appear in my music folder.
Now, I like to make copies of my cds for the car- I don't like having the originals in my car in case of damage or theft. I realise I can make copies using Banshee, but it seems to mix up the order of the tracks, which is sometimes a problem- for example, I recently bought "Thick as a Brick", (showing my age, I know!) which has only two tracks, and Banshee puts them in the wrong order.
Is there a solution, e.g. changing the order of the tracks to the original cd order?
Alternatively, would anyone recommend a different music player? I have googled this and the favourite choice seems to be Amarok- but I gather this won't work so well in Lubuntu
Thanks, in anticipation
[SOLVED] Banshee 2.4.0 for Slackware current
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 25, 2012
I made packages for the latest Banshee version and its long tail of dependencies!
You can check them out here:
I learned from the mistakes I made with my previous packages, so this time the mono part packages place their files correctly in /usr/lib/mono/gac and create .pc files in /usr/lib64/pkgconfig.
I tested them on Multilib -current, they won't work with 13.37. They MAY work with pure x86_64.
If you are using 13.37, you should try out Banshee 2.0.1. Its the last version with media player support for HAL and you can get it here:
Maybe you think its useless to recompile the whole bunch of packages, because slacky.eu already has Banshee. Well, they don't have 2.4 and their packages heavily depend on a full GNOME Desktop I am not willing to put on my harddrive
This version has no Ipod support, because I couldn't get libgpod-sharp to compile with gcc 4.6
I you can't g
Banshee, Totem, GStreamer freezes
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 26, 2012
Want to crowdsource a bit before I go filing a bug report on this.
Bug filed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...10/+bug/941229
Anyone having some freezing issues with Banshee, Totem, or any other media player? I get seemingly random lockups in Banshee when I seek or skip songs too frequently. No problems if I just leave it running on its own, though.
In Totem, I have a similar issue where seeking can cause a lockup. Not sure if the two are related (gstreamer bug) or coincidental. Additionally, I'm only seeing this behavior on MP3s; testing this with Vorbis works out fine.
Quick way to reproduce: Open an MP3 in Totem. Madly click or scrub on the seek bar for a few seconds. See if you can get it to lock up.
In Banshee, if you have a largely MP3 library, you can just open any song, and start mashing the "next" button to observe a freeze.
Going to try to get backtraces from both of these, but I just want to know if anyone else is experiencing these problems first, or if
Banshee and Conky scripting help
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 27, 2009
I'm looking for help here, i'm not claiming that i created this scripts, they were downloaded from this same forum from other users who made them, or that i know any python/bash/conky programing, i'm just a guy (who is starting into collage studying computation), and happens to know a tiny little bit of general knowledge regarding this subjects and tried to modify some scripts to make them work to his needs.
I downloaded Mirav2 theme extra ".conkyrc" and i decided to make the "Now Playing" part of the conky work with banshee instead of mpd. After some reading i noticed that things like (if_running banshee-1) or even (dbus equivalent to it) don't prevent conky starting banshee unintentionally. I saw this guy idea about a wrapper to the dbus script itself but the program was intended to output a single line of info.
To make a long story short i made individual wrappers for each queary, modified the (banshee.getPosition) an
14.04, banshee music not transferred to ipod touch
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 27, 2015
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 and would like to add some music to an ipod touch which has previously been connected to itunes in XP and has music on it.
The ipod mounts and appears in Banshee. I can copy music to the ipod and then sync without errors. Banshee takes a little while to copy and writes the database.
Everything seems to be fine except the music is not on my ipod.
The ipod is running IOS7.
I have copied the photos from it without issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Before posting this I checked the "Check if already posted " button where someone mentions renaming the music files from mp3 to mp4/m4a. Now I've read that it makes sense.
What do you think? I'm still posting this for other suggestions and also if it works to pass on the fix.

Banshee's Fifth Birthday!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 29, 2010
I missed it by a day, but I saw Aaron Bockover's tweet and it looks like yesterday was Banshee's fifth birthday.
Happy birthday Banshee project, and thanks for giving us good software to listen to music with. Banshee can now climb over childproof gates and try to get into daddy's liquor cabinet.
