Best distro or desktop for multimonitor setup
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 2, 2012
Update: Decided that unity and kde are the best desktops for multimonitor. Going to use unity coz I prefer gnome.
I am stuck on ubuntu 11.04 gnome classic, because the options for multimonitor setups are pretty limited or bad in the later editions.
With 11.04 heading towards EOL, can you suggest good desktop environments or even just configs for multimonitor setups?
I have tried gnome shell, ubuntu and even elementary, and they are all buggy or just weird to use in one way or another.
Edit: I have tried using i3-wm , but I would like something less hardcore for regular usage.

location: linux.com - date: October 20, 2011
Question: Where are the plasma desktop wallpapers saved in KDE? There is a wallpaper in 11.04 that isn't in 11.10 that I would like to save. I have 11.04 on my desktop but on my laptop is 11.10 and I would like to have the same wallpaper, the chess one, but I don't know where the files are saved and not sure what to type into google to search for that. I'm sure someone here will know pretty quick, I appreciate the help.
Best Linux Desktop environment for gaming?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 5, 2013
Hi everyone...So I know that Ubuntu, Debian, and Arch are pretty much the way to go if you want the best gaming support (Steam). However what would be the best DE for gaming, performance wise? I was thinking XFCE but people have been saying KDE and Unity because of something called "unredirect fullscreen windows" and that you can turn off "compositing". People have also stated that XFCE does not have this feature. What are these two things and do they impact FPS in gaming? (Again, what would be your best DE for gaming?)

Best remote desktop app to access Ubuntu from a Mac
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 6, 2010
I'm currently using NX to remote my Ubuntu from my Mac. It's super fast but it has it's glitches. F.x. has stoped working for no apparent reason, slow to connect, and the alt key is not working.
Anyone care to recommend some other good remote desktop solutions for accessing Ubuntu from a Mac?
