What is the best Linux distro to use for home built router?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 8, 2013
I remember someone mentioning "bss" or "bcs" linux, but I can't remember the specific name of linux version it was to install onto a home built router. If anybody can name the linux version that can run a router. Actually now I think it was Unix not Linux. I remember also that you had to install it onto the router via FTP if that helps.
The best linux Tutorial?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 22, 2004
Ok now I've decided to make my box only dedicated to Linux no other operating system but I'm a newbie cause I've been playing around with a lot of different linux distros for like 1-2 months. I'm asking you is there a great linux tutorial which makes you forget about the simplicity of the other operating system and show you everything about linux???
PS: I've already read the tutorial on www.linux.org is great but doesn't make me a great linux user.
Best Linux Distros for my Laptops
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 9, 2013
I have two laptops one is a Acer Aspire One D270-1466. The other is a HP Notebook 2000. The Acer is currently running Ubuntu 12.10 32 bit and the HP is running Linux Mint 14 MATE 64 bit. I'm perfectly fine with Mint 14 on my HP but there is one annoying problem with it. Sometimes when I turn it on I get a black screen that hangs until I turn it off using the switch. Sometimes I have to boot multiple times to get it to start but once it does it works fine. It's only a minor issue but I'd love to fix it or install a better OS. For my Acer. Ubuntu starts fast with no issues but I really despise the Unity interface. I know that there must be a more efficient OS for my Acer. It's only a netbook not really that powerful so as long as it's secure, up to date, use word like apps, read PDFs, and quickly access the net. I'm fine as long as it's fast. Ubuntu is fine right now though, it's certainly faster than than Windows 7 Starter ever was.

The best linux webdesign application

Now, I'm a graphic designer who eventually wants
to get into doing some basic web-design as well
(self promotion and non-profit work). I need your
opinion about which web-editor you think is the
best for Linux... Seamonkey, Bluefish or some other
editor? Should WYSIWYG capabilities be considered
a must when choosing a package to learn from
scratch? And finally; how essential is WYSIWYG when
it comes to creating a good workflow from a designers
point of view?

Whats the best Linux Box?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 2, 2007
This spring I am getting a new box. Kind of a belated Christmas gift to myself. I have a tech friend who will put it together for me, but he wants me to pick out the pieces. Fact one: I don't know hardware. I barely know software. I do know that I tend to do a lot of resource hungry things like graphic design, music recording / editing, etc.. I have a few Ideas of what I want (i.e. large wide-screen LCD, 600+Gig of storage (multiple MIDI files for a single song takes up a lot of room!), tons of RAM.) Beyond that I am at a bit of a loss. I only want to use proven, stable Linux compatible hardware, But to be honest with all the new choices out there I don't even have a clue as to where I should start looking (besides Google, which I have currently have running on desktop 3). I am going to have around 2 grand to play with, so money isn't exactly a problem, but it isn't exactly like I got Mr. Bills paycheck to play with, either. Any help here would be appreciated.
