Linux games/activities for really young kids (1 1/2 years)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 27, 2007
Does anyone know of good Linux activities for 18 month olds? He can move the mouse (poorly) and I'm sure he could master a couple of keys (arrows, spacebar, etc.) I think he's too young for the gcompis stuff still.
The things I'm thinking of right now are
1) A slideshow program that would let me record the people's names, so he'd see a picture of grandma and hear me say "Grandma" etc.
2) A music player that could be made to have huge playlist buttons (ie. the buttons are big, the playlist is short) so he could play songs
3) Video player similar to music player -- I'll grab some youtube videos of his favorite animals and make it so they play fullscreen.
Does anyone know of programs that would fit these needs? Any other ideas?
My 18 month old has been in love with computers since he could stare and drool. Now he's constantly hitting the keyboard and moving/clicking the mouse. Today he pulled our new MacBook off the table (no damage, phew!), and I decided

I'm about to roll out 30 Linux desktops at school, but before I do, I want to ensure that I have a full complement of Linux games.
I already have all the games which come with SUSE 9.3, if you are aware of additional Linux games / educational products which would be suitable for school kids grades 3 through to grade 12 please let me know. - Thanks Roly

I am looking for recommendations for easy-to-install, native games for Ubuntu.
Is there a reviewed list ?
If not, what's your choice for:
- best platform game

- best of the best ?
Such a list will be useful to many casual gamers and Linux newbies.

jdodsons list of uber linux games!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 16, 2004
this is to be a guide to games that i find to be particularly good that run on the gnu/linux ubuntu platform. not all games contained in this list are free as in freedom or cost, however many are. i will make note if the license is non-free and attempt to assertain the cost if that cost applies. if you want to submit a game to this list, simply reply to this thread and i will consider the game to be added to the list. this list is going to start small and grow, so dont expect it to be all encompassing early on.
this is not a wine compatable list, this is only for native linux games.
please submit games in the fashion that i describe them.
let the gaming begin.
