Blocking yahoo games using iptables
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 25, 2003
Hi
My brother has started 'boosting' and it is quite annoying.. opens a few hundred connections to yahoo servers, whilst creating yahoo IDs. I believe he is probably trying to sell them online, to make money.. He wont give me a reason why he is creating thousands of similarly named yahoo game IDs, with high grades.
I don't wish to be responsible for the consequences, so am going to block him from using the program. I have found out that he "booster" connects to yogXX.games.scd.yahoo.com
Doing a 'host' on yogxx.games.scd.yahoo.com, shows them to be on the IP range
66.218.68.*
So would this suffice
iptables -A OUTPUT -o eth1 -s 192.168.0.3 -p tcp -d 66.218.68.0/8 -j DROP
? have i got the subnet right?
Is it best to block it outbound, or block it on the INPUT chain?
Thanks for your advice
Duncan

Hello I used to be able to play King Games when I used Internet Explorer 7. When I log on now it states that I can't play using my current Ubuntu. Is there any way this can be rectified? I've looked at a similar thread but I don't understand it. My flash player is working. Thanks.

Ubuntu 11.10 Java Buggy With Yahoo Games
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 18, 2012
Yahoo games using Java generally works as expected but it's only a matter of time before the game windows go blank (solid gray) and become unresponsive. I'm 64 bit and this happens using both Chromium and Firefox.
I'm guessing installing Sun/Oracle's latest Java might solve this issue. However, this is not a user-friendly task and I don't believe I'd get automatic security updates using this solution, if indeed it is a solution.
Here's what I'm using:
Kubuntu 11.10
3.0.0-16-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 27 17:44:39 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
java version "1.6.0_23"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11pre) (6b23~pre11-0ubuntu1.11.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)
Chromium 16.0.912.77 (Developer Build 118311 Linux) Ubuntu 11.10
Firefox 10.0.2
Any solutions?
