Fuduntu 2012.4 is here
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 1, 2012
Wanted to let everyone know that we have released Fuduntu 2012.4!
Itís that time again! The Fuduntu Team is proud to announce the immediate availability of Fuduntu 2012.4. This is the fourth quarterly release for 2012. Like all previous Fuduntu releases, this release follows our tradition of making small incremental distribution improvements that donít sacrifice the stability of our Linux distribution. Existing Fuduntu users have already rolled up to 2012.4, as all of the updates available are released to our stable repository.
Lots of great new stuff in this release including optimization of our TMPFS usage to reduce wakeups and latency even further, and we've dropped the last Mono dependency allowing us to drop Mono!
We've also updated our default desktop and some of our default apps, be sure to take a look!

Would MS dominate Linux with its Windows Server 2012?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 26, 2012
As uptill now Linux is the dominant Server OS in the world. But now MS is about to release Windows Server 2012 which is also the first Cloud OS. There are numerous news stories praising Windows Server 2012 and that it would be a success. Do you think that it would be able to subdue Linux server OSes and dominate the global server market as it has with its desktop OS?
Ubuntu 4.10 (2004) VS Ubuntu 12.10 (2012)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 14, 2013
A lot of Ubuntu fans seem to despise the fact that Ubuntu now uses Unity as its default user interface. Well I let my mum try out the first ever version of Ubuntu as it was back in 2004 with the highly customizable gnome desktop environment. What version of Ubuntu (pretending compatibility/hardware support and drivers was identical) do you like better? What is easier to use and what looks nicer?
Oh and yes... I have Ubuntu 12.10 running on my surface pro and touch screen works but the high resolution makes everything way to tiny to touch with ease...
Check out my mum's opinion of both operating systems below:

Running Ubuntu 12.04 on a 2012 MacBook Air (5,2)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 9, 2012
I recently obtained a 2012 13" MacBook Air (MBA) to use as a development laptop. The documentation on installing and running Linux on this year's model is fairly sparse and had to be collected and verified from numerous sources, so I'm summarizing it here in this post in the hopes it will be helpful to others. Follow these instructions at your own risk, and acknowledge that I accept no responsibility for possible damage that could happen to your computer due to following these instructions.
I will try to edit and maintain this post as I learn new information or others correct me for any misundertandings (which I highly encourage you to do).
I have absolutely no interest in OS X (and to be honest feel more than a tad hypocritical for buying an Apple product, but that's a rant for another time), so my goal was just to wipe the default OS and install a Linux distro (Ubuntu 12.04, "Precise Pangolin") natively. Before doing this, however, you may want to boot OS X just to
2012 Macbook Battery Life?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 16, 2013
Hey guys, so I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (x64) on my 2012 Macbook Pro but I am a little concerned about the battery life....Under OS X, I get the full advertised battery life about ~10 hours. I haven't had the opportunity yet to fully drain the battery but so far it doesn't look like I'd get the full 10 hours under Ubuntu
Anyone have any direct experience with this and if so, how many hours of battery life do you get under Ubuntu? Also, any tips/tricks/applications you can recommend to extend battery life of a Macbook running Ubuntu?
