Need help installing Debian inside Windows on my laptop using Virtual Box
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 7, 2010
Hi, I have to do an assigment for my Unix/Linux class where I have to install Debian inside of Windows using Virtual Box. My assignment is split into two separate parts. The first part has five steps.
1) Obstain the Debian network installation image called debian-506-i386-netinst.iso <-- I'm having a problem here, how do I do this? I searched everywhere, and can't find the answer to this. I need to do this step to be able to move onto the next step which is using the debian image to create a new virtual machine in VirtualBox. I'm really lost here, can anyone help me?
I'll also need to do all these other steps inside VirtualBox as I set up the virtual machine.. I'm just really lost on the first step.
Thank you for your help!!

Run .py script in /etc/pm/sleep.d to get my headphones to keep working when I close my laptop
location: linux.com - date: November 20, 2014
Toshiba P205 laptop with Linux Mint 17 and cinnamon.
The headphones port would not work. I ran HDA Analyzer and checked EAPD, created a script "audio.py" from there and managed to run it on reboot in r-local.
I'd like to run it in /etc/pm/sleep.d so my headphones can still work on resume.

How can I get Microsoft out of my life forever? Page 2
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 17, 2012
I was at one point (don't shoot me for this) a beta tester for MS. My MS days died forever whilst testing an early alpha of Vista - even for an early alpha I knew this was doomed to infamy and made several bug reports and pleas for things to be changed but got completely ignored. Well eventually I did what I posted above - mailed it back to MS with a polite set of instructions and told them never to bother me again.
How can I underclock my Laptop for greater battery life?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 2, 2008
I have an 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU in my MSI Wind and I would like to be able to underclock it, so that while I'm just doing some coding or typing a paper for school, I can make my battery last a bit longer.
Does slackware have tools built in to over/underclock my CPU, or do I need to be enable something in my kernel?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this topic.

And now the reading begins. Switching to Linux is more like a journey or a process. I seem to need a woeful amount of re-education. Also, software center is useless. Authentication help threads aren't helping me, and I can't get email to send from evolution.
Problem after problem. I know why Ubuntu isn't the programming os of choice now, but it is too late for me to go back without spending money on a company that offers an even LESS satisfactory experience. Do I satisfy myself that my laptop now ONLY surfs the internet and runs open office, or do I try for more?
