Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch with Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, not recognizing some gestures
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 15, 2011
So I upgraded recently to 10.04, and I wanted my Wacom pen and touch tablet to work on it so I could get to drawing and everything. After hours of trying to install packages in the terminal, and having none of them work with my tablet, I came across this "dkms" install.
I followed the instructions on the site (here: http://blog.brettalton.com/2010/08/2...tutorialhowto/), its not the original site, but I basically did what it says here).
After rebooting, the tablet worked! Yet something was amiss, I could move the cursor around, but once I tapped something (in gimp, the desktop, etc.) It wouldn't move until I wiggled the pen for 2 or 3 seconds or when I went to the edge of the tablet, it was functional, but I couldn't draw anything in Gimp, which is what I need this for.
I've read that what I have installed is the best for 10.04 at the moment, and that things will be updated in the future (soon I hope), and then finally I can use my tablet to it's fullest capacity.

create iPhone custom ringtones from MP3 to M4R on iOS 4.0.2 3GS with Ubuntu 10.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 8, 2010
Here is a how I create custom ringtones on iPhone iOS 4.0.2 on 3GS (I am not sure about other iOS and phones).
1. get any mp3 and open it with a programme called 'sound converter' from the Ubuntu software center and convert from mp3 to m4a format.
2. rename the file to .m4r so the iPhone recognises the file as a ringtone later
3. put the .m4r file into the iPhone by copying it from your computer and pasting it into /iTunes_Control/Ringtones folder on your iPhone
4. open the ringtones playlist in the iPhone which can be found at: /iTunes_Control/iTunes/Ringtones.plist . You can open the playlist file by double clicking it. Once open, there will appear a list of your ringtones. Each ringtone has an entry such as this one from my phone:
1. <key>ringtone file name here.m4r</key>
4. <key>Name</key><string>Ringtone name here</strin
Acer Aspire 7520G with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS problems with wireless
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 23, 2012
I'm new to ubuntu and I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (awesome OS) I haven't found any problem with it except for the fact that after about 1 hour of browsing the internet, watching videos online, listening to music or talking on Skype my wireless automatically disconnects. I have searched for the problem and already tried the rfkill solution with no good, 'rfkill list' shows me that nothing is blocked yet I can't connect to the wireless. I have tried 'sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic' as well with no luck. Shutting down and restarting my laptop fixes the problem but again only for a while, and to be honest I hate having to restart my machine every hour.
Please help, I've been fighting this thing for over 2 days now , everything is appreciated
PS: I'm new to the forum as well so any detailed info is good for me. THANK YOU in advance
Is there a 802.11 laptop wifi range extender that is known to work with Ubuntu 10.04?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 25, 2011
I bought the USB Amped UA600 Wireless Router/Antenna WiFi range extender but it is not supported on Linux.
Internal laptop WiFi radio is 50 mW with a 1 dBi antennaExternal USB WiFi radio is 600 mW with a 5 dBi antenna (better antennas can easily be hooked up)
However, the one I bought just won't work; details here:
- How do we tell Ubuntu 10.04 to use a DIFFERENT wireless radio card?
So, may I ask if there is a KNOWN GOOD WiFi range extender that is known to work on Linux?

Disclaimer: I'm new to most of this
I just downloaded virtualbox yesterday and installed ubuntu 10.04 on it today. My plan is to mirror the production/staging environments that I plan to deploy to.
Anyway I just set up nginx and I want to make sure that the installation worked properly and I need to access the equivalent of what would be localhost on my ubuntu virtualbox installation.
I'm running the latest version of Lion with the latest version of virtualbox.
