Cannot use or configure XCDroast in Ubuntu 12.04LTS
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 27, 2012
Originally I tried using Brasero but it didn't work the way I wanted it to. There is subject of another thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...11#post4857611.
Unable to get what I wanted from Brasero, I downloaded an application I used to use years ago - X-CD-ROAST - in the hope that I could achieve what I wanted (i.e. burn some MP3s onto a CD). Unfortunately I didn't get very far past installing the software.
The first time I called it up through the applications menu I got the following message:

Ubuntu Server 12.04 Cannot ping gateway but pings all local PCs
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 30, 2012
So I just finished installing Ubuntu Server 12.04 on a PC.
I setup SSH and setup static IP. The server can ping ALL my local computers just fine, but NOT my gateway (router) and NOT any internet IP. My 5 other PCs ALL ping the Ubuntu server, the gateway, and internet IPs just fine. No IP conflicts exist either.
My network uses 10.1.1.x for the IP.
My gateway is 10.1.1.254.
The Ubuntu Server is 10.1.1.252.
From my windows laptop I login to the server via SSH no problem. ALL local connectivity works, EXCEPT from the server to the gateway.
EDIT: Found someone with the exact same problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12064102
I had no network connected during the install; maybe that caused a glitch on the setup of the network systems?
Here's my /etc/network/interfaces file:
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet static
[SOLVED] Ubuntu 12.10 grub error "file /boot/grub/i386pc/normal.mod not found"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 26, 2013
And before you ask, yes I'm already aware that Ubuntu installs EFI Grub instead of Vanilla Grub. I am no newbie when it comes to Google. I've already tried reinstalling Grub, to no avail. I'm still getting the error message. Also tried insmod from the Grub Rescue prompt... that also gives that message.
By the way, I'm installing to an external USB drive.
I noticed something peculiar when I booted from my LiveCD, though - I can see the /boot/grub/i386-pc folder fine when I view my hard drive through the file manager (and the normal.mod is there), but when I try to view my hard drive through the terminal, the folders aren't there. It's like they're hidden. Is this the cause of the issue?
Cannot mount any of my drives in Ubuntu 12.10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 28, 2012
I recently upgraded my ubuntu from 12.04.1 to 12.10. Post upgrade, I am not able to mount any of my drives. It gives me the following error message everytime I try to open one of the drives:
"Adding read ACL for uid 1000 to `/media/username' failed: Operation not supported"
I tried googling it but all in vain.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
Cannot run Ubuntu 12.04 64bit Live USB
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 10, 2013
Yesterday I downloaded the official Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Version because i wanted to reinstall Ubuntu because of some new partitions and i made a bootable USB using "Unetbootin" "Startup Disc Creator" and from many other bootable USB creator softwares and none off them worked and some of them showed this error http://paste.ubuntu.com/5749088/
Then i thought that there must be some problem in my iso so i redownloaded it and still it is giving me the same error.
When i start the USB it asks for options like "Run Ubuntu without Installation" "Install Ubuntu" and some more options. But none of them can let me boot the USB.
And when i use the Live USB made by Unetbootin then the error shows something like "Corrupt or Invalid Kernel Image".
How is all that possible. I downladed both times from the official site and i used torrent which is very less likely to change the file and also i checked the MDA5 sum and it is exactly the same. Then
Kubuntu 12.04 cannot hibernate
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 24, 2012
I have an ASUS 1201n EEEpc that would hibernate correctly in Kubuntu 10.10 and 11.10. In 12.04 it fails to hibernate at all. Neither closing the lid nor choosing "Hibernate" from the menu puts the machine into hibernation. Instead it remains powered up with the screen dimmed but not turned off. Pressing a key in this state brings up the dialog box to unlock the session however.
If you turn off the power in this state, then turn it back on, you return to the BIOS screen followed by the grub menu, just as if I had selected "Shutdown" from the main menu except that the power is never turned off.
This is an upgrade from 11.10, not a fresh installation, if that matters.

12.04 MAAS with ppa:juju/pkgs, cannot get status, error on bootstrap
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 1, 2013
I am going to assume these two problems are related, but maybe not. I have MAAS running using 12.04. I still have the problem I mentioned in another thread regarding maas-enlist, but I went ahead and enlisted a node manually via media. That all worked fine and I was able commission a node, etc.
So I installed juju from ppa:juju/pkgs. I set up an environment.yaml file...
When I do a juju -v bootstrap, I get an error:

Ubuntu server 12.04 Networking Can ssh to server but cannot ping from server
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 27, 2013
I have Ubuntu server on some x86 hardware, and the networking is behaving strangely.
Router 192.168.69.1 / 24 - Serving DHCP
Server 192.168.69.69 / 24 - Serving https (80, 8080, 32400), ssh, NFS
Client 192.168.69.108 / 24 - Ubuntu desktop version
From the client I can get to the internet using Google's DNS (220.127.116.11).
Server used to be DNS, but I uninstalled bind9. Server also does NFS, Plex media, http (port 80) and Tomcat (8080).
From the client (any client, as well), I can ssh to the server, ping the server (and router) and can access all ports and services (NFS, Plex, http and tomcat http). I can login to 443 on the router, too, and it's only serving https.
From the server, I can ping the client.
However, I cannot ping the router or get to the internet. I have set the resolv.conf on the server to use google (18.104.22.168) just like the client, and DNS does not work.
The only entries in the host server's hosts files include loopback and the local host.
The routing table o
