Cannot copypaste in new EXT4 partitions
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 15, 2014
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 32bit and I just upgraded my PC with a new HDD. Therefore I have 2 new EXT4 partitions (900 GB and 650 GB). The thing is that I cannot copy-paste anything into them, unless I access Nautilus via terminal (I use the command "sudo nautilus"). I don't know if it matters but when I check the properties of the partitions, in the Permissions tab it is written: "You are not the owner, so you cannot change these permissions". If I convert the partitions to NTFS it's all fine, but I would like them to be EXT4. Could you please help me?

can't write to new ext4 partition on external hdd
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 23, 2009
I have an external usb-connected hard drive. It came formatted with NTFS. I used GParted to shrink the ntfs partition in half and then formated the remaining unallocated space to ext4. Now when I plug in the drive I cannot drag files to the ext4 partition - I get an error message saying "Permission denied".
What do I need to do so that I can copy files to the new ext4 partition?
Operativsystem cannot detect new SAN devices using Qlogic fiber channel adapters
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 24, 2003
Hi Guys n' Girls!!
This is driving me nuts, I am overlooking a detail in my configuration but I cannot see it myself, sorry so now I am looking for fresh eyes to look over my shoulders and therefore I am writing to all of you.
I have an IBM Server x345 with 2 internal SCSI disk, 4 GB RAM and two CPU's and I have a Red Hat Linux Enterprise 2.1 AS using the 2.4.9-e27 SMP kernel and everything has been just fine until now. In the server I also have two Qlogic Fibre Adapters (QLA2310F) and I have seen that Red Hat offers official support for exactlt that driver and that is cool, however I have one MAJOR problem, the operativ system cannot see the storage I have been granted (total 180 GB) and that is spooky because when I boot the server I can see some detection of the HITACHI disk Subsystem and I am not able to allocate the new "raw devices" to my system using the fdisk utility.
I am more than convinced that I have a driver problem, but how on earth shall I attack and s
Cannot install new distro via usb after installing Crunchbang
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 22, 2011
I love to distro hop and I am always installing new linux distros via usb. After installing the latest Crunchbang distro I tried swithing to a few different other linux distros and every time I try to boot them I get a black screen with a blinking _
I have tried 3 different usb drives and my cards are formatted to FAT32, I have tried using unetbootin and pendrivelinux,
Its always the same black screen so it has to be something irrelevant to the distro and usb drive
Thank you all for any help

grubinstall "Cannot find list of partitions!"
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 17, 2009
I've started to get a "Cannot find list of partitions!" with grub-install. Launching the system drops to a busybox shell. I believe the warning is from os-prober, but don't know how to fix it.
