Cant Install 10.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 23, 2010
I am trying to install 10.04 to a USB pen drive ( 128GB ). For some strange reason the normal installer keeps hanging at 5% at formatting. Theres nothing wrong with the USB pen drive as its brand new, I even used Gparted to test it by making a partition then formatting it which worked perfect.
Any idea's, also is there an alternative way to use a Live CD to install to USB?
I am running the installer now and its been hanging in 5% for about 20 mins now.
Just got the following error message
"The attempt to mount a file system with type ext3 in /dev/sda1 at / failed.
You may resume partitioning from the partitioning menu."

im trying to install linux on it. ive triend cent, slack with no luck.
i have tried booting live cd's but they will not boot.
i googled it around and there seems to be some sort of incompatability with the jmicron ide driver and linux, and also another board; i believe its asus pb5 or something liek that; has the same problem too.
i can get into slack11.0 but cannot open and /dev with fdisk
slax says i have an incompatable boot device.
cent just wont load and prompts me for a cdrom driver.
im sure there is a post on here about that already.
wondering if anyone has any info on this problem
[SOLVED] Mandriva One 2010 Spring Canít Install libmp3lame.so.0
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 25, 2010
Iím new to Mandriva. I tried downloading a libmp3lame.so RPM from Penguin Liberation Front and installing it, but the installation lurched. It keeps saying that itís unable to install it. Looking in /usr/bin/, sure enough, the file isnít there. (Thatís where Audacity tried looking for it.) RPMdrake is no big help either. It shows that a Lame package is installed, but the relevant file isnít among the listed files in the packages, and I tried hunting through other packages for the relevant file with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
Cant install Linpus Lite on Acer Aspire One
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 17, 2009
I'm trying to achieve a dual boot system with the Linpus Linux that came with the laptop originally for the awesome boot time, all drivers support and general web browsing. I also need to run WindowsXP for work/school.
Every time I try to install Linpus around 34% I get an error:
"Error, The program cannot continue. Press OK to exit the program."
I press OK, installation ends. If I continue to boot from SSD, i get repeating 99. Same ocuts with different versions of linpus (I have 2 the one you can download and the one for the acer)
The liveCD works for both Ubuntu (where I use Gparted) and Linpus.
I would like to first install Linpus, then use Gparted on Ubuntu LiveCD to shrink it since it only installs to a whole SSD, and then install Windows.
Can someone please help me with the error in Linpus install.

Cant install Webmin 1.550 on Debian squeeze, installation hangs
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 17, 2011
I am trying to install webmin on my Debian virtual machine and it is not working.
Here is what i am following http://www.webmin.com/deb.html
I ad the 2 lines to /etc/apt/sources.list
I ad the key ok
But when i do apt-get install webmin it goes through everything ok as far as i can see, except when it gets to " **initializing cache. This may take a while **
Setting up webmin (1.550) ... "
It is like it just stops doing anything, it just hangs there.
If i reboot and try "dpkg --configure -a" it starts at the same place "Setting up webmin" but nothing is happening.
Plz does anyone have any idea what could be the issue?
