I want the usb devices specifications in linux please?!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 5, 2010
Hi all;
In Windows, we can find specification of an usb device (I mean, a device only with usb connector, but with any class type such as HID, Ports, USB, Net, …) in the Registry under “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ SYSTEM\\ ControlSet001\\ Enum\\USB” subkey.
I want to know where is intended to find these specifications completely in linux?
Is there a directory (database) to hold specifications for all of usb devices (with usb connector and with any type such HID…) ever connected to the linux system?
I’ve already seen “/dev/bus/usb” and “/proc /bus/usb” paths, but I couldn’t find any useful information from there!
I have Windows XP OS on my computer as a host OS and the linux OS’s on VMware:
On my ubuntu, the “/dev/bus/usb” path has 2 folders named “001” and “002” and the “/proc/bus/usb” has nothing!
On my Fedora, the “/dev/bus/usb” path doesn’t exist and the “/proc/bus/usb” has a “devices” file with this content:
Code:
T: Bus=02 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2

how to check system specifications?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 2, 2007
Hello,
Are there commands in linux to check the specifications of a computer such as;
- CPU type (AMD, Pentium, 32/64bit), support, such as max cycles/frequency, etc.
- RAM support, max capacity, spec such as PC100/PC133/etc.
etc.
I tried dmidecode, but it says:
bash: dmidecode: command not found
Any idea?

Hello
I need to buy a laptop pc and the problem i ran through is that no manufacturer on their website posts specific information about the peripherals the pc is equipped with.
you just find information like "internal wireless : b/g/n" and stuff like this ; but no clue about card manufacturer and chipset.
I have tried contacting but it's a big problem they are quite disinterested in providing previous-sale assistance .
I've also been told that some components may be different depending on the location
Does somebody know where i can find detailed information about laptop components before purchasing?
thank you
