How can I set the default desktop to KDE in CentOS 6.4?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 20, 2013
I always run KDE, and under CentOS 6.3 I could set the default desktop to KDE by setting /etc/sysconfig/desktop to
This does not seem to work under CentOS 6.4. I tried changing DISPLAYMANAGER to KDM but that didn't work. I've tried other variations as well, but I always get gnome. What has changed in 6.4 that's preventing me from getting KDE?

Resolved: VMWare how to change screen resolution CentOS or Fedora guest
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 9, 2008
I just built a CentOS 5.2 VM using VMWare Workstation running on Ubuntu 7.10. I installed VMWare tools from the Workstation menu. However, I was stuck with 640x480 or 800x600 screen resolutions. I then built a Fedora 9 VM. It shows me higher resolutions however, it will not run at more than 800x600.
This has not been an issue with Ubuntu, Kubuntu or various Windows VMs I have built. After some researching I came across a post on the VMWare community. It asked 2 questions:
Did you install VMWare Tools? (yes I did)
Did you CONFIGURE VMWare Tools? (well, no I did not)
I ran the configuration script as root using the following command
How to start KDE automaticlly without typing "startx" then "startkde"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 29, 2004
How to start kde automaticlly without typing "startkde"? First I have to type "startx" first then type "startkde" to get KDE to start. I want to be able to start KDE automaticly when I type "startx". I googled about it and went to x.org and KDE websites I did not get a clear answer. I did a base install of slackware linux (when I say base install I did not install KDE or Gnome) then I downloaded and installed KDE 3.3.1 and all of it's dependencies with "installpkg" command (they were packages in .tgz format).
When I did some reading on it called for a .xinitrc file and I DONT EVEN HAVE ONE! I looked in the home directory as suggested I had un-hide my hidden files I even searched the X11 directory and entire hard drive and nothing! I don't even know how to create one! I took a look at the xorg.conf file for some kind of an answer to no avail. When I do get into KDE it has a annoying login terminal window open and when I close it KDE an
How do I learn to start Game Programming In Java (Or any language)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 3, 2008
I have a reasonable level of programming experience, mainly in Java through a 200 level University course. But we have only ever designed things like sorting algorithms and data structures.
I would love to start to learn game programming, just to make some basic 2D and maybe somedy 3D games remeniscent of my childhood Amiga games. I really don't know how to move from programming concepts to moving graphics and accepting key inputs. Can anyone please tell me what I need to start researching/reading up about? Point me in the direction of some tutorials? I would be using Eclipse on Linux.
I have been reading around 'http://wiki.gamedev.net' but it doesn't say how to get from "Hello World" type things to actual games.
I would happily learn another language if it is going to be more beneficial.
