Questions on changing the default Ubuntu wallpapers.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 22, 2013
My question is quite simple. Where all do we use the file warty-final-ubuntu.png ? Or at which all places do we need the file warty-final-ubuntu.png to be intact.
My question is, not to find the locations of the file. I actually meant to find where all is it used.
How is it possible to change the warty-final-ubuntu.png that is shown when ubiquity installer is displayed to some other images ?
Another question related to plymouth theme. Is it possible to replace the pink purple colour of Ubuntu's default plymouth theme with an image?

Ubuntu 12.04 server rsyslog no longer logging to default /var/log/syslog
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 9, 2013
I've been trying to get rsyslog working to accept remote logs. I've read many articles that argue how easy it is, implementing steps on both the server side and client/forward side.
In messing around with my rsyslog.conf I believe I have render rsyslog broken. As when I tail my /var/log/syslog log, there are no entries in the past hour and I have started, stop, restarted services.
Here is my rsyslog.conf file:
# /etc/rsyslog.conf Configuration file for rsyslog.
# For more information see
# Default logging rules can be found in /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf
#### MODULES ####
$ModLoad imuxsock # provides support for local system logging
$ModLoad imklog # provides kernel logging support (previously done by rklogd)
#$ModLoad immark # provides --MARK-- message capability
# provides UDP syslog recepti
how to change default apache root directory
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 8, 2009
i want to change the default server home dir to /array/html, but it appears that apache2 won't take it after I change the serverroot in apache2.conf and reloaded.
Can anyone tell me beside this argument, what else should I change?
i remember in apache1.3 changing this will do the trick.

Default location for new open windows (10.10) / changing xorg.conf settings?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 11, 2011
I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I changed my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file by accident I think. (*See details below, but I'm not sure they're relevant to my question.)
Before this change, when my application programs launch new windows, they seemed to be placed automatically in "clear" areas. E.g. a program opened 4 windows, and they would be spread out to the 4 corners of the screen or sometimes 3 corners and another space in the middle.
Now, when I run the same application or when I open new terminal windows, it seems they always launch in the left-hand corner of the screen, layered on top of each other.
How can I regain the original window behavior?
Thanks for any suggestions.
*[Details on how xorg.conf was changed: I tried to install the Nvidia drivers but that led to terminal only login after reboot. I did sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf, then I went to into recovery mode to generate a new xorg.conf. I have gui login now but I'm not sure that th
IP address on static assigned ubuntu server keeps changing!
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 24, 2012
I have a computer on my network with a static ip assignment! The computer is a server running ubuntu 10.04 LTS and i set it to have a static IP! The problem is that after a while the ip changes to a different IP! I have everything set up correctly for static IP networking! Everything i use the command /etc/init.d/networking restart it corrects the problem and gives me the desired IP address! But after a while! It has a different IP address! The router i have is a apple airport extreme with DHCP enabled! I know how DHCP works and the computer has to send out an assignment request!
Is it possible that a daemond is sending DHCP assignment request every few hours and that is how it's changing! If so, How do i kill it? And if that is not the problem! What else can be the problem?
