Best Linux Distro to Run from RAM, persistent, and with easy copypaste FM?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 26, 2011
I need to install Linux to boot from a 4GB USB, and run from RAM.
In order to protect the flashdrive from wearing out with rewrites,
the distro needs to be persistent, but write its persistent file to the flashdrive only when shutting down.
Also I need a File Manager program that provides WindowsXP-like ease with copy-paste functions,
trouble-free with separate panes showing source and target areas,
and allowing choice of text-based file listing rather than icons.
If the built-in file manager in the distro does not do that,
the distro needs to have an easy to install selection of file managers to install,
with the features detailed above.
Looking for a needle in a haystack? Well maybe,
but as what I'm looking for is a very practical, trouble-free use of Linux,
it seems many people would like it too, and I hope there are possibilities out there.
I have tried Puppy Linux 5.2 running from USB and find it excellent in many ways: runs from RAM, finds wifi adapters on its own, allows i

Firefox having problems loading games in facebook
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 30, 2011
This is what I posted on the ubuntu forums, didn't really get any useful answers so I figured I'd bring it over to you folks.
"So, try as I might, I could not find a related topic to this with the search button. It has been a really, really long time since I was in forums with you fine folks. I do a lot of the work on this computer myself, I've done my little research over the years and have gotten (mildly) competent with terminal. So then, the topic.
Essentially, it's a firefox thing, so I can't really do anything with what I've learned over the years to begin with. What appears to be happening is that the page stops loading about literally one screen out, no matter how far down the actual web page goes. My normal MO for this kind of problem is along the lines of "Clear cache. That didn't work? Check error log. Nothing? Reboot. Nothing? Google. Nothing? Check forums for similar problems. Nothing? Start again." None of that mess has worked, and I know that's probab
Facebook Bejeweled Blitz on Ubuntu issue.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 18, 2010
Long story short after years of cleaning up malware and viruses I convinced my mom to switch to Linux because all she does is facebook.
I'm setting up her machine and I've run into the only snag I'm probably going to reach. My mom plays Bejeweled Blitz and I've always had the problem that their "daily spin" when you first load the game the spinner spins a lot longer then windows, and sometimes never stops.
As trivial as this seems to me, it's a make or break situation with her. I realise this is probably a code problem, but since it works in Windows and not Linux (on any of my machines or hers) I was hoping somebody out there has a way to fix this glitch or at least speed it up a bit.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with the official Adobe flash plugin downloaded through the Ubuntu Software Center.
