LXer: Clementine: a Port of Amarok 1.4 to QT 4

Clementine is a port of Amarok 1.4 to QT 4, giving users an application that fits in well with KDE 4 while still resembling the previous version of the library-based music player. As I've commented in the past, acceptance of KDE 4 wasn't helped by the fact that the developers took it upon themselves to redesign some of the most popular apps such as Konqueror and Amarok.
Clementine not detecting ipod on Slack 13.37
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 16, 2011
I'm running a stock 32 bit Slackware 13.37 installation (kernel
188.8.131.52) and I would like to use Clementine as my media player and
sync it with my 2nd gen Ipod nano.
I've installed libtasn1-2.9, libimobiledevice-1.0.6 and
usbmuxd-1.0.7. Libgpod-0.8.0 is installed as default.
I've tried the current stable build of Clementine-0.7.1 and a
development build (0.7.1 r3474) but neither of them detect the ipod
when I plug it in.
I've created the usbmux user and the usbmuxd daemon is running.
Other apps such as Amarok-2.4, Thunar and Dolphin all recognise the
ipod when it is plugged in.
What am I doing wrong or missing to get Clementine to work?
Accessing Clementine instance via DBus MPRIS in Java
location: linuxexchange.com - date: December 29, 2011
I'm using Clementine as a music player.
It can be controlled with D-Bus-commands. On the command-line, using qdbus, I can:
Pause the player
Force it to skip a song in the playlist
Check the length of the playlist
Check the currently playing track in the playlist and its metadata.
I want to do this in a Java program. I tried to get things working, but somehow I do not understand it and I cannot find a piece of example code that I can use for my program.
Here's a sample session using qdbus, to give you an idea of service names et cetera:
$ qdbus org.mpris.clementine /TrackList
method int org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.AddTrack(QString, bool)
method void org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.DelTrack(int)
method int org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.GetCurrentTrack()
method int org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.GetLength()
method QVariantMap org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.GetMetadata(int)
method void org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.PlayTrack(int)
method void org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.SetLoop(bool
Monitoring Clementine with DBus using Python

I'd like to do the exact same thing that is explained here :
How to continuously monitor rhythmbox for track change using python
but with Clementine instead of Rhythmbox.
Problem is, I couldn't find the equivalent of playingUriChanged to give to the *connect_to_signal* method.
The only thing I could find with qdbus that seemed relevant was
signal void org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer.TrackChange(QVariantMap)
but it takes a parameter.
I'm not familiar with DBus so any help is appreciated.
Problem installing Clementine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 14, 2011
Been trying out various music players on Ubuntu, trying to find one that I'll love as much loved foobar back in the day...
Anyway, Clementine looks pretty interesting and would like to give it a try, but having trouble installing it. I get the following error...

And, yes, my net connection is working fine.
Guess it might be something odd in my 'sources list', so copied it in here:

Anybody got Clementine installed in 13.04? On their webpage there are deb packages for 12.04 (64bit) or 12.10 (32bit) and both have problems when I try to install via Software Centre - this is my music player.

Clementine was started as a replacement for Amarok 1.4. It follows the exact same interface of Amarok 1.4.x series, getting new features with each release, currently being on par with the older, so much beloved player. Clementine is written in Qt and bundles many powerful features, a collection manager, integration to many services, song information and lyrics, equalizer and much, much more.

Clementine and Gstreamer
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 30, 2014
Have downloaded Clementine and it is a really impressive and easy music player. Until it tries to play a WMA file, and then I get an error message from Clementine: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in.
So I installed (what I assume) all of the GStreamer extra plugins plus Ubuntu Restricted Extras package. No change. So I de-installed Clementine and reinstalled it, with no change.
Gstreamer installation is missing a plug-in and the error message won't tell me what plug in, and all of the extra packages don't seem to change the problem. VCL works fine as does Rhythm Box, but I love how easy Clementine is to use. The other players require a lot of learning. Which brings me to my next point. I'm an absolute beginner with Ubuntu, having spent hours on a full install of 14.04 on my laptop. Would appreciate some help in getting Clementine to play my WMA files, but please don't forget to use words, rather than abbreviations!!
