Q: Tutorial for Clementine, to import an iTunes library and more ?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 1, 2014
I just downloaded Clementine v 1.2.3. Installation was a breeze. After a fast-forward to discover its interface, I looked for contextual help, for an F1 type help, for a manual; nothing, not even a dedicated forum. Incredible.
A few years back, a bunch of users were all warm and fuzzy over the idea of writing a tutorial. Nothing seems to have come out it. Anybody knows of one ?
In case nothing crops up, I have one pressing question:
I come from Win XP and iTunes. I am also the (now not so) proud owner of an iPod Classic 120GB (6th gen). My music, videos, pictures, podcasts and audio-books are all in the corresponding iTunes library. They are also at home onto a dedicated HDD sitting on my desk at home. Music appears mainly as mp4 aac, not so much as mp3.
I have no DDR problem because I never bought that music from a digital store. Every track I have in my iPod also exist physically on shelves as CDs.
I want to import everything (not just music) into Clementine. I don't care about
Clementine Album Art
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 8, 2011
So I've started using Clementine as my default music player and it works great. The only problem I've been experiencing is that I can't seem to get it to display album art for certain albums/songs.
If I listen to an album that already has album art assigned to it, the art is displayed normally and everything's fine.
However, if I listen to an album that doesn't have album art assigned to it, I can't seem to assign art to it at all. I've tried going to a song's properties dialog and clicking "load cover from URL...". I enter an image URL, but no cover is assigned.
When I open Banshee, it seems to automatically fetch covers for each album, but upon opening Clementine again, the art still isn't there.
How can I assign album art in Clementine?
Extraneous noise from speakers ( Clementine )
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 11, 2013
Today I had this low frequency humming (at high volume with Clementine open but stopped, sounded like a jet engine. Turns out that somehow I managed to get the Clementine audio test wave on. Couldn't see that. Downloaded the Pulse Audio volume control, here I could see 2 entries fro Clementine, I disable the audio test and its fixed. Interesting to note, asll other sound devices had no background noise, just Clementine.Hope this helps someone. Cheers!
Ubuntu 12.04: No mp3 in Clementine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 17, 2012
I have tried everything I could find on the net and in the forums: installed and reinstalled the "restricted extras", fluendo, you name it. I have removed, purged, then reinstalled. But no way I can get Rhythmbox or Clementine to play mp3-files. I hear a short sound, then it stops.
flac-files and some other formats play normally in both players.
mp3 files play normally in mplayer.
I need help!

Hi, has anyone else noticed the Clementine icon in the upper panel disappearing? I have music playing and one moment it shows the icon, the next it is gone,, just to random appear again after a little while. If you have the application full opened in the Unity sidebar, it shows up again the moment you open the window of Clementine.
AMD 64 bit Ubuntu 14.04 version updated fully.
Ah well at least VLC does not crash any more after the latest update The joys of Betas!
I have to eat my words, VLC still crashes, but just on .MP4 files, .MKV and .AVI are ok..

Clementine sync with my ipod
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 3, 2012
I have tried a number of programs to try and sync my music library on my external hdd with my ipod, so in the end I have downloaded Clementine and think this may be what I am looking for.
I have set it up to look at my library on the hdd and I can update the files in it which looks good.
I am unable to see any way of getting the music files from my library on to my ipod. Also is there a way that I can set up Clementine to sync automatically so that when I connect my ipod it will update it with the files/updates on the hdd?
Musique and Clementine not working in 13.04 rhythm box does?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 14, 2013
13.04 RR 32bit machine.
I have an extremely large music collection attached to a Drobo unit via USB. Rhythm Box plays right out of the basic isntall. I have enabled restricted formats as most music is mp3/wma/m4a. Problem is that i really dont like Rhythm box. I installed Clementine and get the following error trying to play files.
GStreamer could not create the element: audioconvert. Please make sure that you have installed all necessary GStreamer plugins (e.g. OGG and MP3)
I have checked packages and GStreamer is installed and current.
I have also installed Musique - the play buttons are all grayed out on all of my songs in my library.
Again RhythmBox plays fine.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Clementine GStreamer is missing a plugin
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 16, 2011
Just installed Clementine audio player, but it won't play mp4s. It says gstreamer is missing a plugin, google search turned up some leads but they didn't lead anywhere. Mp4s work fine in Amarok, and i have already installed the restricted extras package.
Gstreamer plugin error Clementine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 15, 2014
I have no idea what's going on but Clementine repeatedly throws me errors regarding music playback. Steps I have taken include:
1) updated to the latest via the Clementine PPA.
2) checked that I had ubuntu-restricted-extras (latest is installed.)
3) Installed EVERY libgstreamer-plugin via synaptic.
4) Checked my locale and made sure US_en_UTF-8 was in there.
5) ran in terminal for error checking.
So basically, none of that has helped and the errors were Gstreamer 572 and GstreamerPipeline562 (IIRC.) Not sure where to turn from here. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it is acting up (though I'm guessing that maybe one of the plugins is incorrectly configured or something.)
Any ideas? Running Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 with all packages updated/upgraded.
