Connection Refused in PuTTy and SQLyog can not connect either...
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 27, 2010
I researched a long while and could not find an answer to these problems, so here I am. I have a debian server running on my home network. I have it running LAMP and it has a live website.
I have samba running and share files with my windows 7 machine, so they do connect.
When i try to use putty it always refuses the connection.
SQLyog tells me off too, but it only cays it cannot connect.
I was checking into SSH, since that is how they are both trying to connect, but I can not find adequate info online for my problem.
I have debian lenny running, I was pretty sure it has ssh running, but i couldnt locate 'sshd'
Is SSH on there by a different name or do I need to install the service.
Thanks in advance guys, I wasn't sure where to go from here.
(ps - getting samba running was a nightmare, but i think it was windoze fault, i tried setting up the debian machine exactly how the guides said to do, but it never could connect and denied passwords constantly,

But it has an error：
monitor_xcl]# ./vm1libvir: Xen Daemon error : unable to connect to 'localhost:8000': Connection refused connect
Then I use the “virsh version”，errors happen again：

Most people suggest to modify the configuration file of“xend”: /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp

[SOLVED] Can not connect Oracle 11gR2/sqlplus in CentOS5.5
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 30, 2010
hi everyone,I tried hard to install oracle-11g-R2 in my CentOS5.5,during the install,I did all my job step by step as this article says:
Q1: when I 'su oracle' and 'sqlplus /nolog',it said:"sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libsqlplus.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".The article has a solution for this problem:"Solution: Install libaio and libaio-devel packages. If packages already installed and error still occurs try execute "ldconfig" as root."
Then i executed "ldconfig" as root ,and run "sqlplus /nolog",it occured another problem:"SP2-0667: Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found
SP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory".
Oh,those things drive me crazy!!
Ubuntu 10.04: It can not connect to MySQL through socket
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 22, 2010
I am in the process of installing a genome brower on an ubuntu 10.04 (lucid). I achieved to see the browser once. Then, the mysql.sock disappeared and to solve this I tried first, to reboot the server with no results. Then I removed and reinstalled the MySQL server installing mysql-server-5.1. Now, I have a socket and MySQL is running (checked these out) but when I try to see the browser that is what I obtain:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)
Any ideas, please?
Firefox can not connect internet (OpenSuse)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 9, 2010
I am new with Linux System.
I have just installed OpenSuse in a brand new desktop. I have got no problem at the installation process. Somehow, I still could not get my firefox to browse internet.
I set the network configuration by applying the IP Address, Subnetmask, Standard Gateway etc. I can ping, both internal network and external network. So, I assume, there is no problem exist in relay and accept data.
Still, I can not browse using firefox. I could, indeed, open the website google.com, by typing http://184.108.40.206, but can not proceed if I typed www.google.com.

Can not connect Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 to my HDMI Sony Bravia TV
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 9, 2014
Whenever I connect my laptop (with HDMI port) to my 32" LCD Sony Bravia, using:
It works just fine, sometimes with very few change in settings and everything is okay.
I have converted the laptop number 34 in my neighbourhood to Linux (Ubuntu GNOME 13.10). The user reported to me that she can't connect her laptop to her TV.
I'm now typing this from my laptop that has HDMI port, sitting in front of my 32" LCD Sony and indeed, I am having the very same issue she described.
This is all what I get:
Screenshot from 2014-03-04 12:33:22.png
First, my LCD is 32" not 72"
Second, I see odd stuff like:
A- On the LCD, after I connect the HDMI cable, I see ONLY the wallpaper of my Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 desktop. It does not matter what I try to open, there will be nothing on the LCD.
B- The mouse on my laptop is not synch with the LCD. Meaning, on my laptop, when I point the mouse somewhere, on the LCD, it goes to somewhere else and not at the sam

[SOLVED] Windows7 VPN clients behind Debian Gateway can not connect to Draytek VPN
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 31, 2012
I am using Debian 6.05 with iptables & squid3 installed.
My Windows clients can't connect to Draytek VPN server which is located in another country with their built-in windows VPN clients. Sometimes they can connect but the Gateway configuration never changes.
The same VPN is working successfully outside my gateway.
This is a huge problem for me since Application Servers behind Gateway are using PPTP VPN for replications.
My network schema is below.
Internet--ZyXEL GIGABIT ROUTER--DEBIAN GW--Windows DHCP Server--Switch--AppServers, APs, Clients
I am using IPTables to block facebook and torrent traffic and Squid3 for URL and File type filtering.
There is nothing filtered about VPN, I tested with fresh installed Debian without Squid3 and iptables filtering rules. And I still couldn't connect.
These are the log entries from a different PPTP VPN Server which is also a Debian
