how much swap space is needed; how to increase swap space?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 22, 2007
As a rule of thumb, how much swap space should you have? I read different values in different places...
I'm running a fairly large code at the minute and I'm getting a segmetation fault...I know where the crash is happening and it has been suggested that it might be because I have insufficient swap space...but I don't see how that can be.
I have 3Gb of RAM and 1Gb of swap space...I monitor the memory usuage using top and it never really exceeds about 40% of total...
although maybe I'm missing something and I do need more swap space? Would be nice if this sorted the seg fault...wishful thinking!

How to Implement Low Speed Point-to-Point Data Link via Linux networking?
I asked this question on a Raspberry Pi forum, but only got one response and that didn't really address my question.
I'm not a computer software network person, I'm more of an electronics hardware person. So I need some pointers and suggestions on where to look and how best to get started on a simple network project using two Raspberry Pi systems running Debian Linux to make a data pipe between them.
What I'd like to do is create the functionality of what, in the old days (1960s) in the States was called by the phone company a "nailed-up private line low speed data circuit". The goal being to provide a 24/7 full duplex low speed data pipe between two separated locations. Specifically, I'd like to use two Debian Raspberry-Pis, one in city A and the other in City B, both connected to the internet via Ethernet, to create a simple low speed serial link between those two points, say a full duplex 30

How do I increase memory usage for Linux on dual boot?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 7, 2012
Ok so I initially had vista on this computer, I installed linux. When setting up the dual boot I made it so Linux would only take up 20 gigs or so. Well now it's all used up and I do not know how to increase the total memory used by Linux.
I have 500G ram and only used less than 100g with windows and the 20 on Linux so I should have plenty of space left.
