Theme for QT app executed with SSH+X11
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 31, 2012
I've developed an app with QT. When I execute this app in local, I get something like the "local.jpg" image attached. But when I execute it using SSH+X11 I get something like the "remote.jpg" image. I think SSH changes the theme.
Do you know how can I avoid this behavior. I prefer the remote look&feel, but I don't mind if I only get the local one. I just want to avoid it changes.
Both remote and local systems are Ubuntu.
Thanks in advance!

[SOLVED][C] Error while compiling app that uses linux/netfilter/nfnetlinkqueue.h
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 2, 2008
Hi to all,
this is my first post here!
I'm trying to write a little application, just an open/close test application, to see how netfilter queue module works, nothing more!
I'm getting a lot of problems trying to compile it because i continue to get error message like this:
/usr/include/linux/netfilter/nfnetlink_queue.h:28: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before ‘aligned_be64’
This is a blocking error, so i can't continue. I've tryied other distros, after ubuntu, and, in the end, i've upgraded to 8.10 too but nothing to do: i continue to get the same error!
I know that is an hard question, but someone here can help?
Here the sources
int main(int argc, char** argv)
// Declare netfilter queue handle
struct nfq_handle* h;
// Try to netfilter queue handle
Crosscompiling Qt app for Windows
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 25, 2010
I'm writing an application whose ultimate target platform will be Windows. But I'm developing in Linux because I really need to get more used to it.
So through Googling I found this article on how to cross-compile. A got a little annoyed when I was searching for those source packages, since they're buried within subfolders of subfolders on MingW's sourceforge page. I then had an "I'm an idiot" moment when I realized I could just search through Ubuntu's repos.
Well, one thing led to another, and I found this repo source which seems to have exactly what I want. There's only 2 problems with it:
1) It compiles to Qt 4.7.0, which at the time of this writing, hasn't yet been finalized
2) It doesn't work
Now of course, the second point is more important than the first.
More specifically, here's what happens:
I run i686-pc-mingw32-qmake-qt4, which generates my Makefile. I then run make, and here's my output:
make -f Makefile.Release
Another GTK vs QT Debate (Which should I learn?)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 17, 2008
I want to begin programming in one of these toolkits for the sake of UNIX Development. I just don't know which one! I'm going to be using Python.
People are saying how ugly GTK is, and how hackish it is.
While people say QT is nice and clean...
GNOME / GTK is the default in Ubuntu,
while KDE / QT isn't.
Can someone give me some (valid) claims as to these rumors, and perhaps code examples of both QT and GTK integration into Python?

[SOLVED] xdgopen $PWD opens directory in firefox, so does every qt app

Good day fellow slackers,
I have this problem for quite a while now, but patiently tried to look for a cure myself. However, I was unlucky, so I'm asking for help.
2 computers running Slackware64 14.0 multilib enabled, without KDE, Or Xfce, but with Mate 1.6 from MSB installed.
Skype, Dropbox and possibly other qt programs always opens directory (where downloaded files are) in Firefox. GTK programs, shows them in caja however.
What I suspect, is misbehaving xdg-open, because, if I try to open directories directly form a command line using xdg-open:
