9.04 Fresh Install: Unable to download pictures into digikam/fspot
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 29, 2009
I've been an Ubuntu user for a long time. I upgraded from Hardy to Jaunty by doing a fresh install of Jaunty (Ubuntu, not Kubuntu) and wiping out my Hardy root partition.
After the install, I had a few problems most of which are resolved except this one. I cannot seem to download pictures from my digital camera using digikam. Nautilus shows that the camera is mounted and I can even see the pictures via Nautilus. Digikam seems to autodetect the camera, but is unable to download the pictures. Digikam simply says that it failed to connect. No error messages. Looking in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog gave no hint of the problem.
For what it's worth I'm having the problem with Picasa3 and F-Spot too.
This worked perfectly well with Hardy.
Thanks for any assistance,
Changing the Location of Digikam Collection
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 2, 2013
I deleted the original location[GUI]
now no matter where I put them,, the initial prompt say ok
but the faults out when actually scanning the collection
I have the files on both a sd card & a fat32 formatted HDD
on a differnt install of M3 no problem
both are clean installs
I'm sure it will work if I start over, but I had this happen last year & finally gave up,
it would be nice to find out what is going on
Need free software for interactive panorama (virtual tour) creation
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 11, 2011
Hugin panorama creator can create a jpg file of the panorama.
I am wondering if there are any software for ubuntu, which can take the jpg file and create an interactive panorama (where one can rotate pan and possibly zoom in and out) in flash or in any other form.

[SOLVED] Digikam: change tag structure hierarchy for existing image collection
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 24, 2013
I've been doing a search for similar topics in several places, but couldn't find an answer to my particular problem. Sorry if this has been asked before.
My situation is this:
I have a collection of photos, some 20000+ pictures. Large portions of these have been tagged, using a tag structure that seemed to make sense at the time. It is important for me to have the metadata not only in the database of my photo management software (Digikam 3.0.0rc1 at present), but also independent of this inside the image files.
What I wish to achieve:
Parts of the tag structure hierarchy have turned out to be too volatile and/or the depicted subject cannot be categorized clearly enough to follow one particular hierarchy branch. I would like to move certain tags around, either under other branches, or just simply up a step or two in the structure hierarchy. Like e.g.:
MyTags/Customers/Firm-A/Division-I/Product-1 ...should become: MyTags/Customers/Firm-A/Product-1
digikam: writing tags to jpg files
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 24, 2009
I spent quite a few days taggin all my photos in Digikam, but I didn't have the "save tags as Keywords" option checked.
I am now playing with Picasa since it uploads images to my Picasa web albums faster than Digikam does. I don't see any of my tags in Picasa (I suspect because that box wasn't checked when I tagged the folders).
I have now checked said box, but I don't see any type of batch process that will write the data to the jpg files at this point.
Is there anything anyone knows of that can get the tags from Digikam and write them to the jpg files?
[SOLVED] digiKam cannot open database
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 22, 2014
I'm using Kubuntu 13.04, digiKam 3.4.0, and KDE 4.11.5, and have run apt-get upgrade 2 days ago.
Last month I moved my collection from a removable drive to a partition on the internal HDD. I have not been able to use it since.
When started from the command line I get
LXer: Geotag Photos with Open GPS Tracker and digiKam
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 16, 2011
Published at LXer:
You donít need to have a fancy camera with a built-in GPS receiver to geotag your photos. An Android device with the Open GPS Tracker app and digiKam can do the job just fine. The app lets you track your route and save it as a GPX file which you can then use to geocorrelate your photos in digiKam.
Digikam 2.4.1 crash on start
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 31, 2011
Digikam 2.1 wouldn't import from my camera, but it would work otherwise.
I updated to digikam 2.4.1 from a ppa I found in this thread.
Now digikam crashes on start up. In the terminal I get this error.
QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is still in use, all queries will cease to work.
digikam: symbol lookup error: digikam: undefined symbol: _ZN4KIPI21ImageCollectionSharedD2Ev
I've used digikam in the past, but it won't import from my camera since I upgraded several months ago. Any suggestions on how to fix it now? Wait for the next update?
