I know many of you all dont care but us sports game fans loved having alternatives to EA Sports with ESPN 2K series.
LOS ANGELES, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. on Monday said it had signed an exclusive agreement with the National Football League and the marketing arm of its players' union, giving EA the sole rights to put NFL players, stadiums and teams in its games.
The exclusive license strikes a blow for EA in its ongoing sports battle with the joint venture of Sega Sammy Holdings and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.
Terms of the five-year deal were not disclosed. Shares in EA, which touched an all-time high during regular trading, rose four percent in the after-hours market after the NFL deal was announced.
Sega and Take-Two's "ESPN" line of sports games, with their strong reviews and discount $20 pricing, ate into EA's market share this year, leading EA to cut prices on its sports games.

EA sports games on linux?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 14, 2008
So, if anyone is reading my other thread about consoles, you might notice something, and that is im considering a console so that I can play sports games, mainly NHL 2008.
What might eliminate this whole mess is if I can play NHL and Madden on ubuntu. Has anyone had any luck with wine? The winedb lists madden as gold, but nhl2008 as garbage (athough it also doesnt seem to be maintained, and the last wine version it was tried with was pretty old). I cant find a demo around to try it out. Does anyone know if it would work? And if so, well?
I know EA has talked about getting cider support for the mac, which would allow cedega to handle them too, but since that big anouncement, I have heard nothing. Any thoughts?
Wine office 2007 ubuntu 9.10

I have a bit of a problem here, with Ubuntu and Microsoft Office.
I want to install 2007 on Karmic. I'll describe the process I’ve followed and that way –and hopefully- someone will be able to solve it.
I downloaded the latest wine version from the official website and installed it. Then I looked for playonlinux in the Ubuntu Software Center, downloaded and installed it. I looked for Microsoft Office 2007 and started the installation process. When it asked for me to insert the software in my drive, instead, I used an .iso.
I am 100% sure the .iso file isn’t corrupt. I used GmountISO to mount this image and I did it in /(myuser)/public/mounted. The installation went on without any issues and both the installer and playonlinux told me it had been successfully installed.
When I try to execute it now a message that says something similar to ‘this app wasn’t installed for your user, reinstall it’ pops up.
Could it have something to d
EA Sports FIFA 10 onPlayOnLinux

I just installed EA Sports Fifa 10 on Ubuntu 10.04 using POL. After installation, when I try to run the game, it gives error stating that:
"Fifa 10 requires 280 MB of swap file space. Free some space and then try again".
How to solve this problem?
Thanks in Advance.

Install Microsoft Office 2007 Ubuntu 10.10

Here's a great tutorial on getting MS Office 2003 (works for 2007 as well) working in Ubuntu. I followed these steps and now have MS Office 2007 running smoothly in Ubuntu 10.10 with Wine.
Here are some points worth mentioning about the tutorial:
Once the Office installation completes, perform the following actions (Note: For Office 2007, change OFFICE11 to OFFICE12):
Press Alt-F2 (this brings up a RUN prompt)
Type "regedit" (without quotes)
Browse to: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\FilesPa ths
Change the path to MSO.DLL to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE11\MSO.DLL
In order to edit the MOS.DLL file as stated above, I had to edited $HOME/.wine/system.reg (the path shown in the tutorial may be outdated). Just search for mso.dll and change the path to "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Sh
