How to verify integrity of Edubuntu addon CD?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 6, 2009
I just finished, for the 3rd time, attempting to build a Ubuntu 8.10/Edubuntu install. On all 3 occasions I have received errors to the effect that certain packages were not installed (from the Edubuntu CD). This time I made the mistake of also trying to install a restricted Nvidia driver so the whole install is toast and I cannot get to the error messages which I saved.
I am guessing that the issue is with the CD or CD drive. When I first install Ubuntu I am given the opportunity to verify the integrity of the CD. The dialog which comes up when I load the Edubuntu CD it does not give me such an option. I see a file with the MD5 digest values for the individual files on the CD however, I am not inclined to check the files one by one.
Thanks in advance for any advise. I think I will try to install Edubuntu on a VMWare machine this time. Quicker to back that up than to reinstall 8.10 from scratch on my old physical test box.

I don't know where to write this, but less than a hour ago I received 10 CD of Ubuntu. So I want to give many thanks to the Ubuntu project for those CD.
I'm telling people here to move to Linux, specially to Kubuntu (which I prefer) or Ubuntu. One will install it tonight !!!
I used to be a Gentoo user, but I get tired to be compiling all the time. So I move to Kubuntu (I don't like Gnome), and I 'm happy about it.
Again many thanks Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Free CD ship time

Has anyone here ordered and recieved their free Ubuntu CDs ordered via the Ubuntu website? I ordered about a week ago and have not recieved them yet... but then again I have no idea how they are being shipped or where they are being shipped form. I guess I'm jsut spoiled by Newegg because I can track my packages and it usually only takes them a few days.
So, how long does it take?
nm, I found the FAQ... it's estimated at 4-6 weeks if anyone was wondering. Silly me, it was right on the website o_O

how to merge edubuntu addon CD into the main CD
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 5, 2008
We were planning to give about 500 Edubuntu CDs in a local IT exhibition, but I was very disappointed to find that Edubuntu 8.10 is no longer a live CD.
Is there any way to merge the Edubuntu add-on CD into the main desktop CD? There is already instruction on how to customize the live CD (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization). If you have any info, please let me know.
