FCE Ultra Error opening a sound device
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 3, 2005
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Otherwise this NES emulator seems to be running fine, but it's mute. In the shell it says:
Initializing sound...Error opening a sound device.
My audio CDs play fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Script not opening .jar file
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 30, 2009
Hello all, I wrote the following script so that I would have a simple way to open up the gametable program which runs in java.
echo "Running GameTable"w
sudo java -Xmx500m -jar gametable.jar
If I go into the terminal and type out each command in order, then it works just fine. When I run the script, it returns:
Unable to access jarfile gametable.jar
What modifications to the script do I need to make to get it to work?
MPlayer Error Message Error Opening/Initializing Video Out Device
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 25, 2006
I have installed Mplayer. It appears as though the install went fine. However, I can't play any video because I get an error message that says "Error Opening/Initializing The Selected Video Out (-vo) Device". I can't seem to be able to play anything with it DVD or video files. Other than that, seems like the install went okay. Video card is an ATI X800 and I have managed to get 3D working with it. Here is a copy of the message received when trying to play a DVD:

Error 8000, "file not found" message when installing Ubuntu Studio
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 9, 2012
I am changing to Ubuntu Studio 11.10 after very briefly using regular Ubuntu 11.10 and I have had some trouble.I am very new to Ubuntu and mostly have only used Windows in the past so if you can keep the replies easy to understand, it would be very appreciated. I downloaded the Ubuntu Studio 11.10 file from their website and then used Windows Disc Image Burner to put it on a DVD-R disc. I did all of this using Windows 7. The computer I am hoping to install Ubuntu Studio on is an old HP computer from early-mid 2000's that was previously running Windows XD Home Edition. The computer is currently not connected to the internet so I put the DVD-R in the computer and restarted it. I came upon the "Select your language" screen. I selected "English" and hit enter. I then found myself at a screen that said 'Ubuntu Studio' with it's logo and then there were 4 or 5 options like "Install Ubuntu Studio" and "Check CD for Defects" There were several opt
Problem mounting ISO file using all suggested methods
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 15, 2013
Hello guys, I have an iso file which is about 8.4GB, and mounts fine under Windows 8 using Daemon Tools on laptop - where I can see ALL files.
When I try to mount it from command line, like:
mount -o loop /home/user/Downloads/StarCraft_II_Heart_of_the_Swarm-FLT/flt-hots.iso /mnt/iso/
mount -o loop -t udf /home/user/Downloads/StarCraft_II_Heart_of_the_Swarm-FLT/flt-hots.iso /mnt/iso/
I get it mounted with only one directory and one file...
When I tried to use suggested tools such as AcetoneISO, I get error:
Error, could not mount image.
Try converting the image to ISO or extract the content to a folder from the upper menu "Image Conversion."
NOTE: it is NOT possible to mount multi-sector images.

My google searches on the subject and looking for similar threads on ubuntu forums turned on releva

How to edit "sudoers" file using visudo
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 5, 2007
Hey everyone. I am somewhat newer to linux, and i do not know how to edit my sudoers file so that my non-root user account can use tools such as wifi-radar.
On Slack Builds it says what to do, but every time i try and follow what is says, i have no luck because i don't know where to put this line:
%users ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/wifi-radar
Here's the link: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12...rk/wifi-radar/
Anyway i would like to add my other user account so that it has full sudo privileges similar to root.
anyone know how?
I checked the Sudoers man page, but i seem to be somewhat linux-illiterate
and didn't find any solutions...
p.s. sorry if it confusing, it is past my bed time.. good night.

Hi everybody. this is my first post here.
I use this code to sync my two ubuntu 9.04 machines:
rsync -av 192.168.0.1:/home/farsheed/projects/BurnCity/ /home/farsheed/Public
After entering the remote machine password, I got this error:

Could anyone help me to solve my problem. I know the directory exists.
