C++ “std::string has not been declared” error
location: linuxexchange.com - date: June 12, 2013
I've been looking for an answer on websites but couldn't find any answer that helped me.
I have a code that uses strings when i tried (like suggested) to add these lines:
using namespace std;
I tried to use each of them seperately and I tried all of them together. The best situation was when all of the string errors disappeared but I had another weird error on the line "using std::string" and the error was: std::string has not been declared.
Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Ongoing internet activity when browser has long been idle.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 12, 2012
I am a bit concerned because often (not always) there is prolonged data activity on my internet connection although the browser has been idle for a long time. The total data usage on the connection seems much higher than it should be. eg: 9 MB to load a couple of webpages.
Browser: firefox + noscript.
system: suse 12.1
Desktop: KDE4 and KDE3.
Connection: mobile phone as G3 modem.
What to look at?
Can data usage by individual applications be displayed and compared with total data being sent / received?
I have not altered any firewall settings, but have used Ktorrent. Can there be torrent activity when the application is not running, and if so how to disable that?
Thanks in advance....
GNOME Power Manager configuration has not been installed correctly
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 24, 2009
XP pro on sda1
Ubuntu 9.10 on sdb1 Wubi
First of all, Thank you to whomever can get me out of this mess!
I was trying to do a sbackup of my Ubuntu 9.10 since I had it all set-up the way I wanted it. Since I'm new to Linux, perhaps I stopped sbackup before it was finished because I could not see anything happening for a while and thought it was done. When I rebooted it gave me the " Install problem! The configuration defaults for GNOME Power Manager have not been installed correctly, etc.
Here's what I have to do now to get Ubuntu to start:
sh:grub> linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic root=/dev/sda2 loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk ro
sh:grub> initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-14-generic
After this I get a black desktop with a blue log in window. When I log in I get the GNOME Power Manager error message.
So I tried Failsafe GNOME and got a black desktop with only a mouse cursor that I could
