Disk check and error in start up
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 27, 2010
Today i was using Ubuntu 9.10 on my computer for about 3 hours. I then had to leave my computer, so shut down the internet and left it. When i came back about 15 minutes later, ubuntu refused to open firefox for me (whenever i clicked firefox it said startting firefox, but it nevery actually loaded). I then tried to open another program, but that also failed to load. I tried to restart my computer, but clicking restart simply closed the menu. I then had to turn of my computer using the power button. During shut down text appeared on the screen that does not usually appear talking about some kind of error. (I did not get to read this properly)
On starting up my computer again, Ubuntu started to load and then came up with a message saying that it was performing a disk check of some kind. at 48% it then went to text screen saying that something was wrong with the disk and then had the option for me to enter something. Not knowing what to put i then restarted the computer, to get
[SOLVED] mdadm error replacing a failed disk
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 22, 2011
Hi Helpful Ubuntu Folks,
I have a four disk mdadm RAID5 on which one of the disk failed. The disk just completely died and was not visible by the OS. I powered down, took the disk out, restarted and left the array unstarted. I then bought a new disk and I'm now trying to add to the array and get the array back on its feet.
Here is what the "detail" command tells me:

Error 204 Authentication failed with Freenx/Nomachine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 14, 2012
I am getting the typical 204 authentication error when attempting to use Nomachine/Freenx to connect to either local computers here in the office or outbound ones at other sites.
I'm attempting to use SSH authentication through a central server "hadrian".
NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 4285
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files
NX> 285 Setting the preferred NX options
NX> 200 Connected to address: 192.168.2.68 on port: 6235
NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx
NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey
NX> 204 Authentication failed.
Am I doing something wrong here? My understanding is that Nomachine can do normal SSH authorizations with no password needed by simply reading the /home/USER/.ssh/authorized_keys file.
Is there something else I need to do to make this work?

pkgadd: ERROR: cannot start pkgserv daemon: Bad file number

I accidentally did some pkgrm, which i believe are
system SUNWopenssl-commands OpenSSL Commands (Usr)
system SUNWopenssl-include OpenSSL Header Files
system SUNWopenssl-libraries OpenSSL Libraries (Usr)
system SUNWopenssl-man OpenSSL Manual Pages
This actually removes some of the other packages which have dependency.
Right now, i cant install any more packages using pkgadd. It will give me this type of error. Please assist
The following packages are available:

server does not boot: I/O error; cciss TUR failed in CCISSGETLUNINFO
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 2, 2012
i have a server with ubuntu precise installed. up to now it booted perfectly well but after the last upgrade it does not anymore.
during the boot process i see error messages like
- end_request: I/O error, dev dm-0, sector 123456
- Error: inappropriate ioctl for device
- cciss TUR failed in CCISS_GETLUNINFO: inaproppriate ioctl for device
the server boots and i see the login prompt. when i enter the username and hit 'return', i see several end_request error messages and get a fresh login prompt. i can not log in!
the filesystem is ok; i can boot into the rescue mode without any problem.
i also booted with a live system (i use FAI and can log in via ssh). i checked all the filesystems and they are ok.
i saw a similar post but without any answer.
any ideas how to fix this?
