It's pretty much common knowledge that the Tutorial on Feather Linux's site is outdated and doesn't work anymore.
I went ahead and wrote my own tutorial awhile back on my site Here. So to help anyone who is curious about it, I'm going to repost it here.
I've also added some revisions since there's also the 0.7.5 version. I'll update this when 0.8 comes out.

Why does my feather linux fail to boot?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 20, 2011
I just recently downloaded the Feather Linux operating system and installed it to my usb. When I try to run it , it wont boot and explains how certain necessary files are missing. When I checked the files in the usb, I noticed that none of the program files open and they seem to need an extension file just to open. of course I'm real new at this and I don't know much about computers so I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello all. I am currently trying to boot feather linux off my 256MB Kingston USB drive, but to no avail. I have followed the feather linux site, step by step but i keep on getting DISK ERROR, or not boot record not found. The motherboard gives me the option to boot off the USB but nothing happens. I know i'm doing something wrong. One thing that the site doesn't http://featherlinux.berlios.de/ tell you is how to format your stick? is it ok to format it with FAT 32, or FAT, or linux. I would really like to have the ability to cary around an OS in my pocket Smile Thank you for your time on this matter.
