Can anyone tell me how I can install and setup vpn server software on my FC6 machine, to be accessible via windows, linux, or mac?
I have been searching google for about 2 hours and getting bits and pieces of information but nothing solid on what is good to use and any instructions.

The /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld init script makes a call to /usr/bin/safe_mysqld to start mysql
This is another script, that calls the /usr/libexec/mysqld. I see you're running /usr/local/libexec/mysqld ? Your error might just be different pathing.
Edit the safe_mysqld script to look in /usr/local/libexec/, instead of /usr/libexec/ . That should fix it.

I'm trying to install and run mysqld
~]# uname -r
64 bit version
I installed mysql-server with yum and it finished successfully.
Checking to see if things were installed.
16128 ~]# yum list installed mysql*
mysql.x86_64 3.23.58-13 installed
mysql-server.x86_64 3.23.58-13 installed
I go to;
Applications > System Settings > Server Settings > Services
Highlight > mysqld > click start,
"mysqld started successfully"
Although in the status it reads
"mysqld dead but subsys locked"
Applications > System Settings > System Logs > Mysql Server Log, reads;
041129 22:53:18 mysqld started
041129 22:53:18 mysqld ended

Fedora Core 2 VPN problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 28, 2004
Hello all, I'm working my way ( again ) through a book on setting up Linux <-> Linux VPN's, the command below should create a connection using PPP over SSH manually
sudo /usr/sbin/pppd updetach noauth pty "sudo -u sshvpn ssh -t -t 22.214.171.124 sudo /usr/sbin/pppd noauth 192.168.254.254:192.168.254.253"
I've created the users and setup the sudo authorization and actually get the welcome SSH message from the remote machine, then I get this
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
I had this working under FC 1 ( albeit erratically )
any ideas much appreciated
[SOLVED] Troubles Booting (Fedora Core 14 SMB server)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 13, 2011
I have been using Fedora Core 14 on an old desktop as my file server with three hard drives in it all configured in LVM except for /boot. The other day I couldn't connect via SMB and then I realized I couldn't ping it either, so I went and checked from the console and it was at a black screen - eek! So I powered it off and back on (CTRL+ALT+DEL wouldn't work; guess I could have tried opening another terminal but I don't think it would have worked either).
When it booted up, it didn't even get to grub, it went through bios post and then to a black screen with a cursor blinking. ack!
I booted from installation media and did an fsck but no joy.
I booted from installation media and looked at my /boot/grub/menu.1st file and it *looked* fine, but I saw a lot of posts about kernel updates having gone wrong and changing the hd info (i.e. hd0,0 to hd0,1). I of course didn't think to back THAT stuff up, just my data...
When I try to use grub shell to "find /boot/grub/me

I'm after a server that contains Fedora Core 6 CD browsable folders (not the ISO downloads, nor the single directory). I want to browse the contents of each CD online, without having to mount the images locally over the Internet.
