buildroot how to change kernel version string
location: linuxexchange.com - date: October 16, 2012

My script is creating linux version "2.6.39+" and this "+" is confusing (/lib/modules folder etc.). I want to remove it. I found only two files .uImage.cmd, and kernel.release that contains this string, but both are generated.

How to get an specific kernel version to the extraversion digit from git
location: linuxexchange.com - date: May 29, 2012
I have some patches for a specific platform which should apply to kernel version 220.127.116.11. Now that I'm working with git, I already have a clone of the official kernel tree and I'd like to have a private branch for maintaining this patches. When I ask for a list of tags with git tag -l I get this for the 2.6.32 series:
On kernel.org's HTTP repository one can get all the specific full source and patch tarballs to the extraversion digit (in my case, the .3 in the end), so how are we supposed to get the same directly through git? Why the tags listed only show "-rcX" for extraversion?
I've searched the web and found people with this same trouble, but they also ended up unanswered.
How can I check which Version of OpenGL is supported on a linux system with optirun?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: July 18, 2013
I have had a lot of problems / confusion setting up my laptop to work for OpenGL programming / the running of OpenGL programs.
My laptop has one of these very clever (too clever for me) designs where the Intel CPU has a graphics processor on chip, and there is also a dedicated graphics card. Specifically, the CPU is a 3630QM, with "HD Graphics 4000" (a very exciting name, I am sure), and the "proper" Graphics Processor is a Nvidia GTX 670MX.
Theoretically, according to Wikipedia, the HD Graphics Chip (Intel), under Linux, supports OpenGL 3.1, if the correct drivers are installed. (They probably aren't.)
According to NVIDIA, the 670MX can support OpenGL 4.1, so ideally I would like to develop and execute on this GPU.
Do I have drivers installed to enable me to execute OpenGL 4.1 code on the NVIDIA GPU? Answer: Probably no, currently I use this "optirun" thing to execute OpenGL programs on the dedicated GPU. See this link to see the process I followed to setup my computer.
