Newbie to Fedora Remote Desktop
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 10, 2005
Hi... just tinkering with Remote Desktop using the app that comes with Fedora FC3.
I want to connect to the Linux box using a Windows XP machine. I have UltraVNC installed on the Windows XP machine.
I can successfully connect to the Linux machine and get up and use the text based command terminal.
I expected to also be able to see and control my GUI desktop (KDE) much in the same way as using Remote Desktop from an XP machine to an XP machine.
How do I do this using the above? Any help is will be much appreciated.

remote desktop to Fedora 20 with xrdp
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 19, 2014
I was able to setup xrdp on my Fedora 13 machine and access it from my Windows 7 machine by follow the steps on the first post on this thread
It was simple and easy.
But when i try the same on my Fefora 20 machine, things are quite different. There is no error message but some new info like these:
# chkconfig --levels 35 xrdp on
Note: Forwarding request to 'systemctl enable xrdp.service'.
# service xrdp start
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl start xrdp.service
and then I cannot remote it from my window machine.
I also did the following based on the last post of above threa:
# yum -y install tigervnc-server
Any configuration I should do to make xrdp works for me?
I was able to ping each other.
Fedora 14 Firewall / Remote Desktop Problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 28, 2011
I have installed Fedora 14 on my Linux machine.
Over all I have been satisfied.
Following the instructions at:
I was able to get to get a remote desktop connection from both my Windows machines (Vista & 7).
After restarting Fedora, I was no longer able to connect. The problem appears to be with the Fedora firewall.
If anyone can shed light on this problem, it will be appreciated.
My actual desire is to have this facility available each time I boot Linux, but being a beginner, Iím not sure on how to do that.
Thank you in advance.

How do i set up a remote desktop connection from my Windows 7 machine to a SFTP server im trying to set up running on Fedora 10.
Ive installed vnc server on fedora, and tried tightvnc and real vncviewer on windows and i cant get it to connect. Im not sure how the firewall works in fedora, but ive added the port to the "other ports" section of the firewall. On the windows firewall ive also added the vnc programs to the exception list.

[SOLVED] fedora 20: remote desktop is empty
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 15, 2014
I have been able to get a remote desktop connection from a windows 7 machine to a fedora 20 machine but the remote desktop is empty and does not display the open windows on the original fedora 20 machine. The remote desktop is also a different resolution to the fedora 20 machine, On the remote screen I've checked the user name in the upper right corner and it is the same username as on fedora 20 machine. In the remote connection I am using the same username and password as on the fedora machine. Here is my xrdp.ini file:
