As usual the Mozilla team has irritated me with their most recent upgrade to 43. So I am trying to downgrade back to 42 however now I keep getting a message from the package installer that dependencies cant be satisfied. It wont tell me what they are of course but I even tried forcing going back to the 42 version in the package manager (muon) and it wont give me that option. It only shows 43 and 28. I installed gdebi and it just says the package is uninstallable.
Has anyone had any luck downgrading Firefox?

Downgrade from Firefox 10 to 9
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 6, 2012
Well. As always Iíve upgraded Firefox from 9 to 10. But in past it was from PPA of mozilla stable and now from main repository of ubuntu. And instead of working I had to see crash by crash of my preferred browser. This was when I decided to downgrade to 9. But in PPA from mozilla there wasnĎt already any version and in ubuntu repository only - 10, in others repositories from mozilla - only newest versions and no hint in Google about deb of firefox 9 for ubuntu. Here the how Iíve downgraded my Firefox.
There are two ways to do it (I suppose there are much but Iíll describe only two).
First (pretty simple): Download tar of Firefox 9 from here for your system and language. Then extract it to any place of your home folder and youíll be able to work with Firefox from folder where youíve extracted it.
Second: (for integrate Firefox 9 into system).
1. Install Firefox 10 (if it wasnít installed or was deleted)
2. Download tar of Firefox 9 from here for your system and language.

Howto downgrade to Firefox 15?

Mozilla no longer ships Firefox 16 after discovering a critical security vulnerability , and are now recommending users to downgrade to version 15. What is the simplest way for Ubuntu users to do this, preferably via apt-get?
Downgrade Firefox in 10.04?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 8, 2010
I just upgraded to 10.04, and am quite happy with it so far, but it installed Firefox 3.6, which is a problem for me because I need to be able to use the Jssh plugin, which isn't available for 3.6 yet.
All I need to do is downgrade Firefox to 3.5, but I seem to be having some issues, it seems that there is only the one version available to me in Synaptic. Is there another repository that I need to add to have access to an older version?
How to "downgrade" Firefox from 4 to 3.6.17?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 20, 2011
Does anyone know how to "downgrade" Firefox 4.x in Ubuntu 11.04 back to 3.6.17?
Yes, I've searched here, everywhere else and Google. I found a few "procedures", none of which work.
I tried to download the tar.gz file from Mozilla, unpack it and run it... doesn't work. I tried adding the "PPA" stuff to the APT sources and then trying to do an install... doesn't work.
Currently, I have reverted back to Ubuntu 10.10 so that I can use Firefox 3.6.x, but of course this is not the solution since it means I can never upgrade again.
Anyone have any ideas...hints... procedures that ACTUALLY work (i.e. you've already done it and it works)?
Google links will be of no help to me - been there, done that. I need something that ACTUALLY works.
How can I downgrade from Firefox 11 to 9?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 3, 2012
My school learning platform doesn't work with Firefox 10 or 11 (it's Blackboard vista) and I can't find where/how to downgrade. The only thing I have found is an archive with .mar files for win-32 bit machines.
Is there a workaround for the learning platform issue, or do I have to downgrade?
11.04, how to downgrade to Firefox 3.6
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 4, 2011
After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 and consequently to Firefox 4.0, Firefox crashes repeatedly. I have not installed any plugins, or extensions or themes. I want to downgrade to Firefox 3.6, but there seems to be no easy way to do this other than downloading the binary from Mozilla.
Is there any PPA from where I can get the lower version of Firefox?
