Download RedHat Enterprise for Free
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 2, 2004
Dear LQ Users
One thing I love about Linux is that programs don't create spyware background apps for you, and all the programs are good (99% of them) and free. Unlike Windows, every program (which makes your Window$$$ slower every day) ask you for $10-$50.
THere are programs that are worth it (Ex: MusicMatch) but most of them are not.
However, I've read that RedHat is making two OS:
RedHat/Fedora Core (since RedHat 9 has been discontinued)
RedHat Enterprise (seems like it's impossible to download that one)
Since RedHat is based on the Linux Kernel (as in FREEDOM), how can they make a OS which is Window$$$ Like, buy it or don't use it???
unable to download Mandriva free 2007 CD.iso
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 28, 2007
Bonsoir, Bonan vesperon
Any way I tried to download the (first) iso, the download always stopped short before the end (either Linux, Firefox, or Filezilla, or Kget; either Win98 IE6).
Is there a trick to get these free CDs (I got the 2006, I had some problems, don't remember which, but got them...The 2007 seem just inaccessible...)
Where can I download an ISO of Mandriva 2007 Free
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 11, 2006
I downloaded BitTorrent, installed and tried using Torrent to download Mandriva from this site http://www.mandriva.com/en/download/free but once BTorrent began, the progress eventually showed it would take 1 day 23 hrs, speed was worse than my old modem and there was something about a firewall. Is a firewall supposed to be disabled just to download this file and won't that leave my machine vulnerable?
Is there any other way to download the Mandriva 2007? I use cable internet highspeed with windows firewall.
Or would anyone have a copy of the iso perhaps on their website that I could download with my XP OS? I would like to install linux as a dual boot and I've heard this distro is super!!
Your help is most appreciated!! Thanks, katy
UbuntuGnome: Firefox won't download adblock plus lists
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 11, 2014
It's very weird, that Firefox cannot download the lists for the adblock plus addon. I cant even access just the link to the list.
Tried it with my host and with a fresh installed version of ubuntu gnome. Result is exactly the same. "Server not found".
I asked in the #ubuntu+1 channel if anyone could try that link. One with Kubuntu 14.04 tested it and it worked.
It's also working with xubuntu/ubuntu 12.04 or other distributions like debian or centos.
So I'm wondering how that could be possible, that it works with kubuntu 14.04 but not with ubuntu gnome?
Please be so kind and test it with ubuntu gnome and let me know. Something must be different not just the DE. Something must prevent firefox from downloading and accessing that page... but what? :/

Repository Mirror "free" download
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 10, 2006
Can you offer advice on achieving the following goal subject to the limitation specified:
GOAL: package installs that don't count toward my ISP's monthly data download quota.
LIMITATION: in Australia at least, many ISP's shape bandwidth (i.e. throttle downstream data rate) after some monthly limit on downloads. In my case it is 10GB/month. I suspect I am not alone.
OPTIONS: as I currently see themAdvise my ISP how to provide (and maintain) a repository mirror.Point my ISP to an officially-recognised set of files that allow me to create a repository mirror on my LANorder a set of DVD's of the repository contentssomething else that I haven't thought ofIn the long run option 1) is my preference however for that to work I'd need to refer my ISP to a recognized & qualified person within the ubuntu community.
Google shows up at least one company that sells a set of DVD's that might suit option 3) above. Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Complete
That leaves Option 2:
