- date: May 7, 2012
I installed gimp, but it wouldnt start. So I ran it from the command line and got the following errors:
gimp: error while loading shared libraries: libgegl-0.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I then ran dpkg to isolate the error:
:~$dpkg -l gimp

ii gimp 2.6.12-1ubuntu The GNU Image Manipulation Program
What is the error? How can I fix it?
installing gimp fonts
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 25, 2008
I checked around a little and even posted on gimptalk.com and linuxforums.org but either they don't wanna help or it doesn't work. I was told to go into the fonts:/// folder and click and drag the new .ttf font files and and they should work fine. But, for one the new fonts don't show up in the folder, and two they don't show up in gimp. If anyone could help it would be much obliged . Sorry forgot to hit the "search if this threads been posted" button.

Problem installing GIMP 2.8 on Ubuntu 12.04.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 8, 2012
I have switched today from Ubuntu 10.04. to Ubuntu 12.04. It all works fine - except for GIMP. For some reason, I cannot have GIMP 2.8. installed, neither by using Ubuntu Software Centre nor by pasting commands into Terminal. What shall I do to have it installed?
Thank you in anticipation.
