PXE boot CD/DVD ISO images...
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 4, 2007
I don't know what forum to put this in, so I chose "General". Please move if there is a better spot for it.
Anyways, I just setup a PXE server earlier today and it's working great (I followed this howto on Debian Administration). So far I have Debian Etch & Lenny both working over PXE. However, I could not help notice that I was forced to download the netboot files from the debian mirrors. I already have the CD/DVD ISO images for Debian and I would like to use those if at all possible.
Another reason I want to use regular ISO images is because of the fact that I have ISO images of all the main Windows versions (OEM - for when I reinstall Windows on my customer's computer - I'm a computer repairman) and I would love it if I could PXE boot these ISO's over the network.
Some of my customer's dont have CDROM drives, so it requires me to open the box and temporarily install a CD/DVD drive. Other times I find the my CD/DVDs have either become scratched or lost, so I e

Xubuntu 13.10 XMir ISO Available For Testing
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 9, 2013
The Xubuntu team hasn't decided yet if the Xfce Ubuntu flavor will switch to XMir or continue with X.org for 13.10. Before making the decision, this needs to be properly tested so an Xubuntu ISO running on Mir & XMir has been made available for download.
Ubuntu ISO not mounted by OSX (Mountain Lion)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 12, 2012
I have downloaded ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-i386.iso and burnt that on DVD with a Mac (Mountain Lion). I have used the disks successfully on other computers so I think both the download and burnings are healthy.
By chance (to check the contents of the DVD), I inserted in the Mac and it gave me "the disk you inserted was not readable in this computer". Well, of course I thought that the disk had gone bad; but then I tried the downloaded ISO and it said "couldn't be opened", reason "no mountable file systems".
I do not have another computer here right now, so I cannot check that DVD.
Is this the normal behaviour on Macs? It is only that I cannot even read the DVD label, Diskutil gives as name/label only disk1s1.
Might it be pssible that by sheer coincidence both the iso file and the DVD has gone bad, and thus I have to do a new burning?
If someone knows about this behaviour, I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks in advance

ISO file for ubuntu 9.04 netbook version
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 27, 2009
I have not been able to locate an .iso file to upgrade from ubuntu 8.1 to 9.04. I tried the live upgrade and that failed. I can find the 9.04 .img file but I really would rather use a dvd to install the upgrade.
[SOLVED] Any problem Ubuntu ISO from a Windows server?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 8, 2010
Can I download a Linux iso image from a Windows mirror? I don't see any problems, but my IT guy tells me that it just can't happen because a Linux download server uses a different protocol. But, I could be wrong...
[SOLVED] [NO] Plans/ETA for Xubuntu 13.04 Alternate ISO?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 3, 2013
We are currently utilizing preseed and postinstall functionality for an automated USB stick installer of Xubuntu 12.04.2, and would like to upgrade to 13.04 (via fresh install; we'd like to avoid do-release-upgrade).
From what I've been told, the preseed/postinstall functionality only works for alternate installer ISOs. I've been checking weekly since 13.04 was released for an xubuntu-13.04-alternate-amd64.iso release, but I've yet to find one.
Are there plans to release it? If not, I suppose I could use a Ubuntu alternate ISO and manually remove gnome and install XFCE, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
