Help: Set up virtual postscript printer on Redhat 5.7
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 1, 2013
Hi All -
I need to create virtual postscript printer on my machine. I have actually done this once before, but I had to delete the printer (why is not relevant). Now I need it again.
Here is what I'm doing:System -> Administration -> Printing
Click on new printer
Fill in info; click Forward
Select other; click Forward
Select Generic; click Forward
Select either "PostScript Printer" or "postscript printer" (I've tried both); click Forward
Get popup with following error: CUPS server error. There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'.
Previously, when I got this error, I was able to google and find a solution, which was to go back to the page where I selected "other" in the "Select connection" box (4th bullet point above), and enter a device URI onto the Device URI box. Well, I'll be damned if I can find the page that told me what URI to use. It was something that pointed to a parrallel

Help set up Boot to Linux via WinXp Bootloader
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 22, 2005
Okay, I have not installed LiLo btw since the Vector installation doesn't enjoy doing it for me...
But I cannot install LiLo in the MBR, I have to put it somewhere where it will not corrupt the current MBR which contains vital information on how to work with the HP Recovery partition.
I am not sure where to start, I can boot Vector Linux into the shell and begin working with it, but I'm not Linux professional so I'd enjoy some assistance.
I need to get LiLo on the system and then somehow get the Xp Bootload to boot Linux... I already have the boot.ini file modified with a Linux entry and I believe I need to get a Linux.Bin file or something onto a Fat32...
Any advice, tutorial or assitance would be greatful.

I'm very close, after about a week of trying, to getting an HP Officejet 5600 MFD configured to print from a headless server on my home network. I've almost got the thing working. Right now I'm not even concerned with printing from a client computer on the home network because I can't get the thing to work printing from the server itself. I can submit a print job using the server machine (no GUI; from command line) but nothing happens. The event log indicates that the print job was submitted, but nothing ever prints. Can anyone tell me what the next step in is this process? (With the additional information below, that is.)
The printer is connected by a regular USB 2.0 connection. From lpinfo -v

I want a shell script that does the following things. I was wondering if someone could spend a few minutes pondering over it I would be most greatful. Thanks.
Write a shell script such that when the command get_password is issued then the following will happen:
- the /etc directory on the router will be mounted on your local machine
- confirmation of a successful mount is written to the screen of the local machine
- the passwd file will then be copied to a directory on your local machine called /userdata
- confirmation of a successful copy will be written to the screen of the local machine.
- the remote directory will be umounted
- confirmation of successful unmounting will be written to the screen of the local machine.
- the contents of the passwd file from the router will be displayed on the screen of the local machine

SSH onto my machine, set up port forwarding, etc. HELP
- date: September 22, 2011
Hello linux users,
I setup my ubuntu desktop with natty and installed ssh on it, and I have ssh installed on my macbook. I forwarded port 22 from my router to my desktop, and I also got myself a dnydns subdomain that points to my router. my computer is always on so my WAN IP doesn't change.
when i ssh into my desktop via a local connection (LAN) using:
ssh [email protected]
It connects fine!
but when I do:
ssh [email protected]
i get the following output:
'ssh connection refused'.
Oh and I also allowed port 22 to be open to anyone via firestarter so it's not the firewall. I even tried turning the firewall off and no luck.
Anybody got any thoughts of wisdom?
