Hotmail or Gmail Hmm
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 4, 2008
Well I guess this is the best place to post this (Sorry if its not, Dont eat me D: ).
I've been using Hotmail for some years now, but I've been noticing that Gmail has been gaining popularity.
And that got me thinking, "Should I switch to Gmail?".
What are the advantages/disadvantages of using Gmail/Hotmail?
Email problem Is it Evolution or gmail?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 27, 2012
The last 2 to 3 weeks, every so often when I try to download e-mail via my internet service provider. Evolution indicates that it is downloading (as in: "downloading x of y") and when it is finished. I do not have any e-mail downloaded to my computer. and if I go to the website where my e-mail comes in from. all the relevant e-mail is now in the g-mail trash folder. The problem persists for a while and then goes back to downloading e-mail to my computer properly, whether or not I try to fix the problem.
Where should I be looking to resolve this problem, and how do I resolve it; so that I can get my e-mail to automatically download to my computer in my evolution software?
I regard web mail, where my mail resides only on the server as an utterly unsatisfactory way of doing e-mail

ASUS EEE Laptop: Unable to get into either Yahoo! Mail or Gmail
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 2, 2008
I have an ASUS EEE PC. Since I've had it, I've never been able to successfully login to Yahoo! Mail or Gmail. It lets me enter my user name & password, then just boots me out.
Has anyone else had this experience? What can I do about this?

Gmail or Hotmail
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 26, 2007
I use a Yahoo email account. But recently I have been fed up with Yahoo. There was this very important email that I received a day later than it was sent, and ended up asking the sender to send it to a Hotmail account that I have and check every now and then.
So what are your suggestions?

sendmail smarthost to send to gmail or my own server

First of all, I apologise, because this seems like a well-discussed topic, but I am posting here anyway, because I couldn't get it working for quite a while now, even though there are lots of tutorials:
I would like to send email from my local machine to my server or gmail's smtp server, because my ISP does not allow my machine to send email (Argh!). I don't mind if there is a gmail header or similar because I just need it to test my local PHP applications like Drupal and CiviCRM.
I followed this first:
but it did not work for me.

Open Source Gmail/Hotmail alternative?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 9, 2011
Hi all, I would like to know if there is such a thing as an open source alternative to Gmail or Hotmail. I'm talking about the actual email hosting site and email address, and not Thunderbird or Evolution.
Thanks in advance.
