How do I install Ubuntu when I Have Joli Os?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 5, 2012

How do I install Jolicloud kernel into my Ubuntu 10.4 netbook?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 2, 2010
Hi there,
I'm running Ubuntu 10.4 netbook remix after un-installing 10.10. I found Unity too limited (I HOPE that the desktop version will be more configurable).
Ubuntu does not however, support my Lenovo S3 screen brightness and internal mic. Jolicloud does - but I don't like the Jolicloud approach (i.e. assuming everyone is into social networks and signing in with them to start up - and their screens are ugly).
So I'm wondering how to install the Jolicloud kernel into my Ubuntu.
Any one know?
Regards
John
Jolicloud: how do I stop Jolicloud from overheating my laptop?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 30, 2011
I installed Jolicloud 1.2 on my laptop at the beginning of the year, as a secondary boot besides windows, but many of the apps have a tendency to overheat my laptop. It is proving very frustrating having my laptop automatically switch itself off midway through online work or a videogame. Is there an upgrade option? Or a modification to the software that I could carry out myself? (I have very limited programming skills).

[SOLVED] How do I download the KDE desktop (Kubuntu) when I already have Ubuntu v.1210?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 12, 2013
I would have dowloaded Kubuntu directly via wubi, but it wouldn't work. I read somewhere that you can download the KDE environment on Ubuntu anyway, so I went ahead and downloaded Ubuntu again.
Where do I go to download the environment? I checked the Ubuntu Software Center and I tried using a search engine, yet I come across no relevant results.
Could somebody please give me a push in the right direction?

And that is why I believe that we should have either a merged Linux/Unix stackexchange or have the split be “user-centric” vs “expert-centric”, but not one-brand vs “everyone else”

There are ubuntu questions that aren’t necessarily Unix questions.
Otherwise there is no point in having any SO sites for specific programming languages,

Ubuntu is an end-user operating system used by everyday people who are not typically interested in hacking around a kernel, nor configuring a large collection of tools, projects and packages, nor citing documentation references and command line arguments. The Linux proposal, in comparison, explicitly targets “advanced users,” in which I have no interest.
In short, we need our own space. Thank you.

How do I get/install Ubuntu Netbook Remix?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 5, 2009
I want to try Ubuntu Netbook remix and want to run it on two environments.
First, I want to use it on a Mac Pro using VMWare for a virtual machine. I plan to do this first.
I also am planning on purchasing a netbook within the month of March and will be purchasing the Acer Aspire 10" model.
Will it run okay on these two machines?
Most of all I'm confused because I see how you can download the various versions of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, etc. but I don't see how you can download Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
I see some links talking about how you need a lot of experience to do it so do I have to do some type of compiling?
Is there an actual Ubuntu Netbook Remix CD that I can download?
Or do I install Ubuntu and then do a software update and download the Netbook Remix desktop?
Thank you for your help.
how do i choose the version i need
location: linux.com - date: July 5, 2009
First I have never used Linux. I have been wanting to try it but couldn't down my pc to try. I have a older laptop that I want to try it on. It is a Gateway SOLO Pro 9300 PIII 450 with 288 ram 6 gig HD.
The version must run Open Office, Gimp (or similar photo program), be WiFI compatible, and not be hard to learn (don't have a lot of time to spend studying). I would be nice to have a windows emulator to run some windows apps and games.
Thank You,
Billy
