I am using Ubuntu 7.04 with GIMP 2.2. I am trying to find out how to import pictures from a Digital Camera which is connected to the PC via an USB cable using GIMP. I tried to search through the GIMP help file, but could not locate anything conclusive!
I know that I can import pics in Ubuntu directly but I would like to do it using GIMP only.

How do I keep IT from forcing Windows Lync on me?
location: linux.com - date: October 25, 2014
My company rolled out Lync, so now IT wants me to use Windows, because there is no MS Linux Lync client. I see some people use Pidgin for Lync chat, but it's just chat. I don't want to switch to Windows just for Lync. Does someone know a good workaround?
How do I Stream Music from my computer to my android device
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 28, 2011
I have found countless things that claim to be able to do this for free. I basically want to use my computer's music on my android device while I am not home. Plug in the headphones, press play, and listen to it. Essentially, turning my own computer into my own personal "cloud streaming service" like Ubuntu One.
I have gotten none of them to set up properly. any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy a large microSD card if I don't have to, i'd rather just stream it to my phone from my PC.
I don't want it to be WIFI only, I need it to work on my normal data connection. Any Ideas?
How do I transfer files from Android phone to laptop?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 22, 2015
I have an Android phone (it tells me it's a Sony C1505, otherwise called a Sony Xperia E). There's a lot of files on the phone that I want to transfer to my computer (running Ubuntu 12.04). I've tried transferring via bluetooth. But when I try to "Browse Files on Device" all the computer shows me is that the Download folder is empty (which is certainly not the case) or If I select C1505 > Browse files > Download the computer tells me
The folder contents could not be displayed. Couldn't parse the incoming data
Surely there must be a way to transfer files from the phone to the computer? The only thing I can think of is to buy a micro SDHC card and an adapter so I can transfer the files via cards. But that seems an expensive way to go about it, when the phone and the computer are both bluetooth-equipped. I've thought of doing it over wifi, but I don't know how to do that...
Any ideas? Thanks.
How do I remove words from ispell dictionary.hash?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 20, 2006
I have ispell installed on my Suse server with British English dictionaries. I want to remove the profanity from them - it's for young children.
I can download the 2.1MB englishxlg.hash file to my Mac, open it in textedit and spot the words, but when I simply cut them and replace the file on the server, I get 'wrong format' errors.
Looking at the man page for ispell, it seems I have to have a plain text word list which I then format as a hash file.
Can I edit > reformat the .hash file instead?
Is there a tool which I can use to edit the dictionary directly? E.g. adding/removing single/bulk words.

Can anyone help?
[SOLVED] How do I move files from within many subdirectories to another one?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 25, 2011
I have a large directory tree with my ebooks and some of these files are zipped. I would like to move all of the zip files to another one so I can manipulate them. Since they are all scattered inside the tree, I would like to do it quickly and painfully with CLI. How should I proceed?
/home/gauchao/ebooks/[many subdirs here with zipped files inside many levels] <-- this is my source directory to search and pickup the zipped files
/home/gauchao/ebooks/zippedfiles/ <-- this is where I want to mv the zipped files to
Thank you very much for any suggestion!
