How do borderlines works in strategy/RTS games?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 22, 2014
I'm curious what kind of algorithm can calculate the country's borderline, according to it's cities, buildings, and of course nearby city's and building's radius?
Picture from the game "Rise of Nations":
And how can one render this shape with lines or triangle strips (With 5m width for example)? How to get the points's coordinates from the borderline in good order? How it works in games?

Server being used to relay spam (Pesk + Qmail), how do I stop it?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 18, 2008
I have a Root server with 1and1. They use Plesk as the control panel so that is what I have been using.
I got a notice from them that our server has been sending spam and they are getting complaints.
The server uses Qmail with spamassassin
In the Plesk control panel I have set (From day 1) for mail relay to be on, but require SMTP authentication.
When I look in the mail queue for the server I see the same sender (not a domain on my server) sending mass emails to a group of 100+ users.
I went through and looked at everything I could to see if I had something setup that was not correct and I just do not see it.
I ran a telnet to the server and attempted to send from a domain not in the RCPT list and it failed.
What logs can I look at or how can I determine if they are sending directly from the server or if I have a site on there that has been compromised?
Thank you for all your help!
How do I display space used in a directory with conky/lua..........
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 31, 2013
I have installed 'Conky Manager' with the idea of giving conky another go. I am in the midst of modifying the 'conky-orangerc' file to give me all I want and have suceeded mostly. One last thing is bugging me though, the Lua script that draws the bar graphs has graphs for several directories but the all show the same percentage as they are using the
How do I identify libraries used by a running program?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 9, 2010
I'm using the FortiClient SSL VPN free version provided by my University. I can't get tech support from the university OR Fortigate. I have it running on one system, but I have no idea what the sequence of libraries I installed was. I need it to run on a second machine. pstree is only telling me that the FortiClient ssl daemon depends on pppd. I need to know how to find out what else it's using: LibPKCS and the like.
How Do Set VESA driver to be used on boot?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 22, 2007
Hi, this is my first foray into linux. I've just installed Fedora core 6 64 bit and am now not getting any display output after the boot screen (Fedora will boot in 5 seconds....) I had a similar problem with the install but managed to resolve this by running the install using the command Linux vesa at the [boot] prompt. The install process detected my ATI card but the drivers it installed don't seem to be working, so I'm guessing that I should be able to boot with the VESA so that I can troubleshoot. Can anyone tell me how I can boot using those drivers please? I'm assuming I need to add something to the kernel options accesed from the boot menu, but as I same its the first time I've used Linux so don't have a clue what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
How do I convert Works wps files to something usable and open?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 3, 2011
Looked at a couple of old closed threads on the subject which recommend wps2html (can't find it) and found wps2odt which appears to get tables really confused. Any other possibilities? Ideally I would like to convert to odt or ods.
[SOLVED] How do you remember the commands used in Linux From Scratch?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 21, 2012
Just thought of starting with something "cool" and LFS came
So, since LFS is said to teach us the ins and outs of Linux,
I wish to know how do you actually remember what all commands
you have issued, what kind of 10 parameters they have, what
are the alternatives to them, and all?
Of course you'll say - repeatedly read the man pages till you
die. Well, I don't think that is actually feasible. It'll get
boring. LFS is a big book.
Also, I don't want to look like "copy pasting" commands from
the book to computer.
I want to remember the things in a practical way - Is there a
Is trying to remember all the commands a meaningless idea?
How should I start LFS so that I actually understand and remember
what the hell I am doing?
Is it all about the "commands", or is it about something else?
Am I missing a point?

how do i get firefox to play audio via HDMI, not pc speakers? everything else works
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 2, 2009
i have my laptop hooked up to my tv & surround sound using a hdmi cable.. everything else plays audio through my tv. VLC & Totem play videos and music through my tv with no problem. the only thing that wont is anything that plays audio through firefox ex: youtube.
do i need to change something in VLC's audio output modules? like change the OSS DSP Device to something else? i read that worked for people trying to use usb headsets when they changed it to /dev/dsp1, but i'm not sure if thats relevant in my case.. i'm sure someone else has ran into this issue, i appreciate any ideas.
.. and i just tried using the gecko media player plugin by running:
sudo apt-get remove kaffeine-mozilla mozilla-helix-player mozilla-mplayer mozilla-plugin-vlc totem-mozilla xine-plugin
sudo apt-get install gnome-mplayer gecko-mediaplayer
still playing all firefox audio through the pc speakers..
